Resolution issue
I did a bit of digging already into this issue, but none of the guides helped me yet.

I tried to set a custom resolution vie steam launch options but it would not change it to the settings that I wanted that way. So I deleted the launch options and did more searching and found a post saying to go to the sysconfig file in mydocuments and change the resolution values there and save than go to my coh2 folder and change the second sysconfig file so that the values were the same in both files and save. After doing this method, I launch the game and get the same result as I did with setting launch options, my resolution seems to be getting set back to my max screen resolution of 1366x768 each time instead of my requested 1080x720 or even as low as 800x600.

Any help would be much appreciated.

This might be a good way to figure out some of the problems with lagging...I will play the game on 800x600 if can be done.

But, if not...its probably rigged like alot of new games...their minimums are 1080x720. [If not a bit higher.] But their highest isn't even close to the 1600x1400 some games in 2000 had.

Oftentimes, the software that comes with videocards will try to supercede a game interface settings control. You might want to check and see if your Catalyst Control or NVidia control engine are forcing s specific resolution for the game and try to reset the resolution to your programmed value.

That might be interesting...any particular system controls for that?

Well, AMD uses the Catalyst Control Center software to control their videocard settings. I don't use it to change my resolutions, myself, but if I remember right, it's as simple as going to your Monitor or your Gaming tabs and changing the settings on those. Badically, if you have an AMD card, right click on your Desk Top, click on Catalyst Control to open it, and look for the right tabs in the side menu.

As for NVidia? uh... I think there's a monitor tab on the Control interface? I dunno for certain. I know that if you right click Desktop, they have a listing for a driver control and settings software. Beyond that, I'm not familiar with its operation. I haven't owned an NVidia card in about ten years, so I haven't followed how to adjust them for about five years or so. I just keep tabs on which ones perform better than others for the sake of when I buy cards to built my friends' computers. Some of them like NVidia, while I prefer AMD. Sorry, can't help muchmore than that.
