Dont float ressources. Spend your manpower on units and dont amass too much mp. Bigger army means being able to overpower your enemy without taking too many losses yourself.
Unit preservation: Do not loose units. Of course it happens from time to time but keeping your units alive and reinforcing/repairing them instead of building new ones and gaining veterancy is the key to success.
Maintain map control: You need those ressources. The fuel sectors are really important to be able to bring out vehicles.
Dont fight battles you cant win: This has a lot to do with experience. Once you know the game a bit better you will know when you face a battle you cannot win. Sometimes it is better to avoid such a battle until reinforcements arrive.
Use combined arms: Dont spam a certain kind of unit. A healthy mix of support weapons, vehicles, anti tank and anti infantry is necessary.
Practice You can beat standard AI! :)
Just need good micro and a good understanding of the game mechanics. It is very do-able, trust me :)
but what's the fun of it, go play multiplayer and get baptized by fire :))))
Ive been playing coh1 for years and now coh 2 shortly after its launch and coh2 is drastically different in difficulty than 1. I should also mention i play skirmish on anihalate not vps which might be my problem. Before the last patch i was beating theatre of war on standard and or hard but after it im dumped back down on easy and struggling at that. Command points are a joke now as i cant get arty or high level support until 12 pts but by the time you get 12 points you're already in control of the map.
I understand it should be a challenge but i have to play with such an intensity in microing multiple fights across the map that its no fun at all. Even using a defense strategy im out of resources to build a few mgs and paks and then he just spams me with engineers and flamethrowers and then somehow instantly has a tank regiment at my door.
Do you think its the anihalate mode that is causing my diffuclty? I cap almost al of the map, add a few fuel points and starting getting into the higher tech tree only to find hes already built the perfect counter army and i havent had enough time to build enough to support my push. It just honestly feels like something is badly out of balance here.
Im going to try on hard mode because i have seem rumors about how the difficulties are messed up. Oh and i also do play mutliplayer and i usually am not on the winning team. However in multiplayer its hard to tell sometimes if its me or my allies that caused the loss or the other team being more organized or "other" unmentionable reasons.
