Recently I noticed that soviet doctrinal howitzer is built in team games on forward positions and I wonder if it can be shoot like AT gun as well ?
As long as I have read (it's essentially ISU-152 gun and it does had provided to crews few AP rounds to use when necessary) it was able to be used as AT gun as well as howitzer and I think it would be great equivalent of PaK 88mm for soviets as it would provide powerful fuel-less late game solution against tanks.

well the issue is that then you get an emplacement that can wreck both armour and fortified position. Pak88mm can only be suited for AT duty. It simply is not suitable for balance reason.

The 152 mm howitzer can only use the barrage ability. The b4 arillery piece can do exactly what you describe though. For a large chunk of munitions, it can fire its gun forward like a pak 88, but far more deadly (180 muni i believe). It 1 hits almost all tanks (tiger, jagtiger, and kingtiger can survive a shot). It also can fire a regular barrage ability when it comes off cooldown.
