But I do know about the CTRL groups.
When you select any units you can hit for example 'CTRL + 1' and put them in a control group, so whenever you press the number 1 ALL of those units can be selected at once.
This works best when you have a mouse with numbers on the side, like I'll usually put 2 rifles in CTRL squad one, 2 rifles in CTRL squad two, and I can easy have little squads based on this technique. It makes flanking and overall mechanics more smooth.
No prob, hope it helped.
Shift + units (click on the unit u want to have) + crlt + nr. (number you want to give to the group).
Why i don't recomand to put different kind of troops on one number ...
It has something to do with the abillities they have.
For example :
Grenadier/s + PZ4 in one group with one Nr.
If you hit the Nr. and give order to move somewhere, it's ok, they will move there.
But, now comes, if you want to use theyr abillity (that are different), you have to select every single unit in the group with the Nr. and click the abillity ... so it will cost you the time to do that.
On the other side, if you use same type of unit in one group, with a Nr., you have the advance that you can use the abillity by hitting it, or the corresponding letter.
For example :
If you have three grenadiers in one group with one Nr. you can hit the Nr. and then the letter (letter of the abillity you want to use) and the closest will use that abillity.
If you have three grens and face three enemy tanks, you can hit the Nr. then hit the letter for the at_grenade and the closest grenadier will throw the grenade on the closest tank, that will damage the motor of that tank.
If you additionaly use Shift and left_click on all three tanks, then all three grens will shoot the at_grenade on each tank and all tanks will have damaged motor.
If you use Nr. + Shift + letter (of the grenade or nade) + left_click on what you want + letter of retreat ... the grens (all that are in that Nr._group) will throw the at_grenade on the tank/s or the nade on the place you left_click and then retreat after throwing the specific grenade (at_grenade on tanks, or nades on infantry).
So in the example you just have to hit the Nr. and some letters and the three tanks will all have damaged motor and the grens will retreat so they will be safe, then you can move your tank/s + pak40 and also an MG34 to finish the enemy tanks (the MG is to cover the pak40).
Why i use "the letter of the abillity" ... to avoid misunderstanding, i don't know your configuration.
Example :
Letter "R" means ... considering the configuration
- reinforce
- retreat
wow, such a stupid necro.....
