Yea COH3 has gotten a LOT better with the last patch 2.02
Soviets in COH2 only.
But otherwise, COH3 is a clear win for me.
You already own both... 1200 hrs 242 hrs.
That might be a minor detail to many, but it's a major aspect of the game for me personally.
I play for the Heroes more than the Company (e.g. I might choose to play or avoid a faction altogether based solely on how much I enjoy the voice lines it boasts, but maybe that's just me).
Seriously, especially the american faction but also the germans pretty much too, if you compare COH2 and COH3 for just what the units say it is pretty ridiculous. It feels like a lack of effort honestly... like the guys who did the COH2 voice lines did a good job, but the COH3 was just thrown together last minute
Though that is a good reason for me to prefer COH2 to COH3, the main reason I prefer COH2 to COH3 is the actual feel of the game and the controls. The way you scroll the map, the way the unit flags on the map look... the way the units move and react... COH3 just feels under-done. It feels clunky. Maybe it is because I am used to ten years of COH2 muscle-memory, i.e. if I played COH3 for ten years and then tried COH2 it would probably feel that way too, but that is how I feel
You could argue that "the graphics are updated and way better" for COH3 but I don't feel like it is any great improvement (I think in a lot of ways it is worse). Besides, looks are in the back-seat for me, what I care about most is game-play. COH2 looks great
Another reason COH2 > COH3, for me, is the maps. Definitely the maps. There are *so* few maps in COH3... it is like you play on the same couple maps every single time (and honestly, they suck too)
I could go on about how the idle splash-screen for COH3 when you are in between games looks like garbage (whereas in COH2 it has at least a rendition of a blasted battleground or a foggy wood or something better than the literal garbage on your screen with COH3)... that isn't something having to do with gameplay but again I feel like it makes the game feel under-done, unloved
So in that case i need a challenge IA, i see the recent gameplays of COH3 and yes, its epic see the pershing or king tiger in action, but i dont know if the IA is more Hard.
And the fact that Coh3 two has only 2k above it, well that speaks volumes for it as well.
I would say the only reason Coh2 doesnt have more players, is the fact they didnt adress the cheaters and they stop moderating it.
Pretty sure if they had kept coh2 maintained, it would have more players, which is probably why they stopped, so more people will buy coh3.
I'm glad I'm not one of them :) I rebought Coh2, that was probably the last time I give Relic money ever again.
? "Re-bought" COH2? You asked for a refund?
