So my advice is also not forgetting about a good RAM, not sure how it would run on i3 though.
All these things matter.
Same goes for op: at which desired res? Are you playing more competitively, meaning you desire a stable 40+ (better 60) fps?
Personally I play @ 1680x1050. Zero competitive gameplay. I'm gonna play against 2xAI or coop. I NEVER set max settings in games. I always go for mixed normal+high. 2xAA is enough for me (sometimes I choose FXAA). I prefer balance between graphics and performance.

Btw.: Haswell i3 + GTX 660 is maybe entry level, but definitely quite powerful.
