It's been fun. I try to avoid gun control topics for the most part because they can be an endless stream of brick walls trying to scream the loudest but by and large this thread has been pretty mellow compared to what I'm accustom to.
Guess I'm just glad someone actually read my hunk of text and agreed with some of my points. Maybe I'm not entirely crazy after all.
Alright I'm gonna go kill some Orcs. Enjoy your night/day everyone. And happy 4th to the Americans who stuck around! :P
Didn't even see this thread (I was busy celebrating the fourth and playing HOI3). This Grandfather has proven that the Germans have prepared more for the end of the world than we Americans have. The damn bastards one upped us. Now I got to get some M1 Abrams in my garage then we will be square.
BBC does that kinda crap all the time.

i dont want to argue about gun control but well there are a couple of things that im wondering about
im wondering how he managed to take off the tracks by himself and how he actually got it in his cellar/basement, if he is 78 he was young during ww2. i think he found the panther tank abandoned somewhere? or maybe he bought it. he must have the operating manual too. that you can find online. http://bilder.zib-militaria.de/buttons/Pantherfibel.pdf i wanted to read it but i could never find it in english. i read the tiger tanks operating manual though.
they also say he had an unfinished v1 rocket, flak 88, torpedo and other stuff. flak 88 is 7400 kg idk how he towed it. many contemporary cars arent that powerful unless he had a truck. maybe he used the tank to tow it lol.
He was probably a conscripted guy in the final months of the war and he broke rank and took whatever he could get. Also in terms of gun control, yeah like the state would never kill anyone and its always there to protect you (from cradle to grave).
but it says he is 78, which makes him a child during the war lol. at most he would be 8 years old during the war as the war ended in 1945
All the more sense, remember the Volkstrum were made of any male that could be found probably from age 8 and up. I could see the kid with some friends driving it back home and parking that baby in a cellar then trying to live their lives.
a kid driving a panther tank? it actually takes plenty of knowledge to get such a tank started and moving. this isnt like the automatic cars nowadays mind you, its a tank with sticks used for steering, not very easy to drive. german tanks especially the panther and tiger were quite complicated. i dont think a couple of things could accomplish that.
German tanks did have a steering wheel, no sticks.
