Stupid extremely loud gunshot sound....
I thought they fixed that very loud and annoying gunshot almost like a *pop* sound that is 1000x the volume of the game. Last night in a 4v4, I got the pop at least 30 times, after halfway through the game it kept doing it every other 1-2 minutes. Sometimes it's a *pop**pop* like two gunshots fired consecutively.

I also have this some time, but not so often.

Change your sound setting to "Medium" and it should go away. This has been mentioned by Relic as well, in case anyone is wondering whether or not it actually works.

What the hell is it anyway? It doesn't sound like any of the normal weapon effects in the game. I always assumed it had something to do with the war spoils.

It is a soundcard bug where it puts out a bugged sound extremely loud (it's more of a system than a game sound), similar to the one that you will get when your graphics card crashs and the sound loops, this loud bang problem exists for a long time now, even had it back then on WinXP and is not a CoH only problem at all, seems to occur especially often in shooters and games with a lot of bangs and booms.

it's not a soundcard bug. it also happens on my g35 usb headset and it doesn't occur in any other game.

When a guy from Relic played a match online on Twitch to show the UKF he did it with his headphones around his neck. That gunshot was heard multiple times during the match and he even pointed at his headphones once in acknowledgment to that sound bug. So I don't think Relic needs another bug report...

I have Tinnitus and sensitive ears to some sounds because too much noise for too long.
Once I literaly cried out in pain when that sound bug banged during a match with some friends. I had headphones on to speak with them. Freaking tinnitus went up a couple volumes for a while too.

Lesson learned. Sound now on medium. :/

what's the point in reporting a bug that's been in the game since release? set sounds to medium. that's the only viable solution.
CyberGuru Sep 16, 2015 @ 10:42am
even with sound on medium it still happens - just not as loud and pronounced.
