Way too much DLC

Can someone give me the lowdown on whats actually worth buying and how all the bits and pieces fit together? Played a lot of the original COH when it originally came out. Was thinking this could be fun, but the mass of seperated content is a bit confusing.

What is the chance of getting rare commanders by drop? How do I get the ones with Sturmtiger and KV2? Which DLC gives those?

If it´s a PITA to get commanders I might buy DLC but I want to know if it´s impossible.

take the base game(2 faction the Red Army (SOV) and Wehrmacht) red army campaign included

ardenes is single player campaign for the us faction

need more factions go for the Western Front Armies ( us faction and Oberkommando West)
you still can only get the western front armies if u just want skirmishes, player vs ai or player vs player since its a standalone

and now there's the new faction the british last dlc

for me these are the worthy dlcs, but i dont play anymore since axis are so op, americans tanks are ♥♥♥♥, bazookas are ♥♥♥♥, but red army are cool... i love this game, but its unbalanced for me, lets see when the british launches

I got a rare commander yesterday, random is random I guess
The sturmtiger is the Oberwest faction, which I think comes with the AA pack (along with the americans who have an army that turns into garbage post minute 20)

Also the sturmtiger isn't that great, trust me.
If you can get it, you probably could have won 10 mins ago.

Thanks for the replies. Didn't know about random drops for commander trees. Think I'll just pass on this and play some of the original again instead. Cheers all.

The base game already has a lot of commanders (most but not all of the best ones).

From there I think most people just grab a bunch more when there's a sale. You do get a lot of drops if you play a lot, but they could be anything, so meh.

Exactly what I did. Saw the sale here on Steam and read a bit. The aweful spread of many DLC is not at all attractive to me.

What this game has too much of is, noob and arses. Though those two thnd to go hand in hand.

western forces: where i started, you get OKW and US Forces armies in skirm/multi, and some maps. i think you can play these maps just cannot select them if you do not own the game, same goes with about all the other content.

base game: soviet and wermacht armies in skirm/multi + soviet campaign, no unlocks i can think of.

theater of war packs i was most surprised with, they are 1 off missions, some solo and many co-op, some are custom battles others AI battles. all good imo and ive spent much time trying to beat them all, i spend the bulk of my game time in these. a friend ran a mission from one of these packs i did not own, and i was able to play, and received credit for beating it when i bought the pack.

ardennes: single player campaign only, beating it unlocks skins and intel bulletins for multi/skirm
fox company rangers: goes with ardennes, single player only.

commanders: you really dont need them, all the armies will provide you with at least 3 to choose from, but if you have the cash or a big sale, you will want them. maybe best to get them when you can appreciate what they can do?

every 3-4 rounds i get a drop, these mostly are intel bulletins, and rarely commanders or skins.
