French forces
Before I start: please no stereotyping or surrender jokes.

The existing armies are very interesting to play thematically. I would like to see a French faction largely because of the voiceover work and flavour of the design. Somehow, it could work in a gameplay way. If it could, would you want it?

I imagine there would be a cooking commander granting each tank crew a pastry chef that buffs performance of nearby allies, counteracting the rudeness heard over the radio.

No stereotyping the french, but you make Pastry jokes, what?

The French would be a awesome army to include, though debateable for who you give them to: Axis or Allies?

The Allied Free-French or Axis Vichy-France? In light of the fact that we already have 3 Allied armys and One Axis army that just has 2 different flares. I think we're overdue for some more Axis armys like Vichy-France or more probable the Italians & Japanese.

I have a hard time seeing the French fit into COH2's setting. Not because of the nationality aspect, but because of time period: The focus has been overwhelmingly on later war vehicles and equipment. That's why everyone is using the 75mm+ tank main guns, and not the 40/50/57mm guns common earlier in the war. Since all France's vehicles are of pre-war manfuacture, they'd be largely inferior across the board to everyone in a given size class.

The only combat-effective vehicles they'd have are the American-gifted armor, which would effectively just be copy-pasting American units and wouldn't make for an interesting faction.

If French were ever a faction they would need ultra defensive buildings and tougher emplacements than british. Concrete bunkers instead of sandbags, etc. They would have to be the king of defensive abilities.
Look at the maginot line, obviously it failed but it one of the toughest line of defenses in the war.

Personally I think the more the merrier. Id like to see France, Italy and Japan at least but these are all highly unlikely until CoH3 if we ever get it.

Ill be surprised that if they do make a CoH3 that they don't use Japan due to the nagging they get in CoH2 for them.

A "Colonial War" expansion would be great. Lots of new maps and the armies wouldn't be locked into the current army build which ends in tank warfare.

If there will be a third axis faction it can only be the Afrika Korps, all the other options (Italy, France etc) are historically irrelevant and lack the appeal IMO.

Yeah french? 2 weeks in the war and they got conquered. Italians? Yeah, they always did nothing without Germany. Afrika Corps? Sounds great, tho I am not sure how can that faction have winter skins. I don't think we'll get another faction, but if we were to get one, it would be another German one. One thing I noticed in the trailer for the release of the brits was the factions' flag on an European map. It had oshteer, okw, russia, england and america, and I think that's what we gotta stick to
france was of useless army

I'll concede that both Free-French and Vichy-France had no signifigant late-war potential, but early war there defense against the Germans is what caused Germany to invest in heavy tanks like the Tiger program. Were it not for the Nazi favored Vichy-France coup, France probably wouldn't have surrendered so quickly.

Initially Germany planned the war with light tanks, Keeping it fast and mobile as Blitzkrieg encouraged, Using the Panzer IV as the official 'Heavy Tank' in support of the Panzer 3' and 2' as the MBT's. French AT guns and strategies however quickly proved Germanys error in judgement and thus born the heavy tank progression as we know it.

You can thank the French for the Tiger.

This is not 100% true.....
The Panzer 4 was an Infantry support Tank and the Panzer 3 should fight aggainst Tanks.
Panzer 1and2 where build because they could not build enough Pz 3+4 and Hitler wanted to attack quickly.
Heavy Tanks where planned some time ago but the Tiger came because of the T-34 and the Kv-1.

Italy is pretty much the reason they lost in the eastern front.
There is no reason for Japan and US marines to not be in though.

I've read tons of books on the WW2 and nobody ever pointed out Italy as the main cause of Nazi Germany defeat, at least you should know the history of your country...
Despite being rushed into a war unprepared italians soldiers fought heroically both in Africa and on the eastern front, where they didn't even had adeguate clothing.
Back on point i think Relic is saving USMC and ♥♥♥♥ for COH3.
