COH1 British vs COH2 British PvC
In COH1 each side had useful strengths that were balanced out by weaknesses. I am looking at this from Player vs Computer side. I am not interested in PVP and won't reply to any PVP responses.

The British strengths were supposed to be defence. However Relic's code for the AI will target every defence you build with perfect accuracy without being able to see it. This makes all the defences completely worthless unless you march around killing every mortar and infantry gun.

You get a lot of immobile defence but very few maps have one key chokepoint. So you get an ability that is not very useful in many battles. The British are more tower defence than WWII defence.

The British are supposed to have defence. But most of the vehicles they get are weaker armor than the Axis forces. This changes the British from a side strategy to a random mishmash of units. The British have a commander specific heavy tank from 1941 which is incredibly weak. It was a heavy tank in RL and is listed as a light tank easily killed.I just have to wonder if Relic are researching WWII by listening to Stephen Harper drunk at the local pub.

One of the odd things about the British is their non-defence stuff is very good. I love the MG. I love the armored car. The basic infantry kicks butt and the Comet is great. The AA tank does great stuff.

coh 1 brits are the most boring faction, their defenses are a waste on the best maps. Stuarts and mobs work well though

I dunno, in coh1 you could literally build a defense nest of everything to counter everything, 17 pounder, mortors, howitzers, mgs, to the point that you only needed to micro inf or tanks to protect yourself with if things get sticky but more often than not attacking the enemy since your emplacements were so op nothing could break your lines should you get the right choke points. Lyon was the best map for it, destroying two of the three bridges and forcing them to come down the center one while all your emplacements just destory them if they try to. How i miss coh1.

Spearhead mod for CoH 2 when it finally includes the Brits will be as close as you will get. Damage is way up but accuracy is so bad that hitting an emplacement with indirect smaller than a 152 mm barrage is pretty much impossible. Have to watch out for air though, that is still accurate.

Thats not the British. The British spent a lot of time working on extremely accurate artillery

There was a German soldier on the western front who did acrobatics in a tree outside the British troops range. One day the British called artillery on the tree. Not the area. They called direct accurate fire on a single tree and killed him.

Its not hard to be better than this. Spent 20 minutes tonight forcing units to shoot at Pumas. Whoever beta tested this has no pride.
