It's f2p, you command 1 general unit and 3-5ish squads that you can fully customize to your liking afaik and you fight battles the same way 4v4's are played in coh2 but with even more players on each side, haven't checked it out since it was in early alpha so i'm not sure what it's current status is but it does sound like the kind of thing you're asking for.
I'm looking for a more snappy CoH2 kind of Medieval RTS, not like Total War or AOE
Then there is nothing like it. Medieval combat does not really seem to fit RTS to well in my opinion when you think about it.
Well like I said, Rise of the Witch King. Squad-based combat, like in that game. Similar, yeah something like that.
You mean Battle for Middle Earth series. That was a good series but its also fantasy or magical. I cannot think of another game that works in quite the same way. It did have the same economics system pretty much, although squads are larger than they are in Coh2 and they have heroes. Its not exactly apples to apples but I don't think any other type of game exists for that kind of genre.
