Hi! thanks for the reply!
I've been playing CoH2 for a long time in this very pc; I can tell you my pc specs below.
I'm not quite sure how to handle the DirectX thing. I got a lot of games installed on steam and I figures lots of them must've make use of DirectX and they're working just fine.

I've tried re-downloading the DirectX installer from Microsoft official website and it says that a newer version of DirectX is already running, so nothing is getting installed. I also have tried updating windows and reinstall my graphic card drivers to no avail.

i am wondering if it is directx12
I say that because for example you cannot communicate on the original coh unless you change manually on notes to directx9. maybe look at that ?

I could (partially) solve the problem. My graphic card is a NVIDIA GeForce GTX 670MX. Latest driver update is version 25.21.14.2531 from 4th sept. 2019. To solve the problem, I temporarily reverted to previous driver version (generic display driver something from 2010 or so). In this mode, the game started indeed (unfortunately, I can't let the system stay in that mode because the driver is super basic with low display resolution etc.). However, as soon as I reinstall the more recent driver, the error pops up again.... so no real solution so far.
