The point is that you should just be able to disable them like any other mine.
Demo relies on player to activate it so it would be bit odd to not be able to activate it especially when it is such a huge MU sink.
You can defuse demo charges.
Finally, the range of the minesweeper is *much larger* than the charge explosion radius, so if you pay attention while playing you can clearly see the charge in your line off sight from a very safe distance. Then you just shoot it.
If you move without a minesweeper into unknown territory you risk walking into all kinds of nasty traps.
A minesweeper costs 30 ammo and takes less than 10 seconds to upgrade.
