Penalty for leavers.
Is there any kind of penalty for people who deliberately drop from matches?

Just played a game where one teammate said: 'Are you guys new?' after a misfortunate encounter with some axis forces. 15 seconds later he drops. More or less ruining the game for us remaining 3 players on the team.

Yesterday when I played I had a 9 minute game after a surrender from the enemy team when one of their players had dropped after 5 minutes. Immediately after that match I go to play another and I get the same dropout in my next match, and this time he drops out after 7 minutes.

I feel something must be done about all the people dropping from games that are not going in their favor.
Thanks for reading.

Too many cowards. I second this penalty. Demotion in rank!!

Make it like LoL where they aren't allowed to que after leaving. And after so many leaves they get a temp ban from the game. Punish droppers, there is a surrender button after all

yeah, make it like csgo and put longer and longer que bans the more than do it.

Well I mean it kills the experince for players actually trying to PLAY the game. There should be a que ban or something for droppers.

I agree, or if they don't want to ban their players, maybe they could adopt Dota 2's penalty where you get put in a low priority pool, where you only play with other players who abandoned games. That would be interesting to see. And if they keep leaving, the cycle repeats!

Doesn't this game use some kind of rank based matchmaking? In that case I don't think it wouldn't be a good solution to demote people for dropping from games. Maybe put a cooldown on war spoils (even though they get none from games they leave)?

It actually does, everytime you drop you lower your Elo, which is your skill level. SO you get placed lower and lower on the ladder. The games matchmaking attempts to match players with similar elos to get a "fair" competitive game.

Oh, I didn't know about that, thought the game pitched players of the same profile rank against each other. Well, in that case a demotion wouldn't really matter at all.
But then people who deliberately drop from games get to play with less experienced players in addition to not recieving a penalty for dropping in the first place. Bummer.

an increasing cool down on quing for matches would teach them not to quit though. 30 min, 1 hour 2 hour. 5 hour 12 hour 24 hour 48 hour. eventually they would figure out only que if you intend to play.

They just stop playing and move to another game. This translate to smaller player base and longer wait time until the game is dead. A vicious cycle.

Team mulitplayer is the problem. If it not quiter than it will be afk and so on. You can't have fun in a small team. Lots of issues can't be fix for small public pick up team games. I stick with 1v1 and deathmatch/free for all.

potentially, but if they just keep dropping cause they forsee challenge. Do you really want those players sticking around? there making no meaningful contribution to the community.

If they think they have lost and its over then they should vote for surrender. If the rest of the team disagrees they can stick around and learn something and try and win.

I have seen lately, they don't quit, they just retreat the whole army and stop playing.

AFK is why we need a vote kick.

OR at the very least, two ques casual which has no quit penalty and a competive which does.

but what is worse some one who leave and the AI takes over or some one who sits there doing nothing, they want to leave but don't want to get penalised so they just alt tab until the game is over.
Deadlylag Jul 29, 2014 @ 1:56am
That's how it always come down to. The less people playing, the less people will buy the game, the less people will play the game, and so on until the game is dead.

Small public team games IS the problem. In 4v4, if one of your teammate leave, suck, afk, etc that's 25% less chance of winning the game right? Mount and Blade Warband have 100v100 public team game. If one afk that only 1% and chances are your enemy with the same level of problem players as you do. So it all even out when on large team.

The best way to solve the problem is not to play small public pickup team games. I stop playing small PUG team games a while back because I experience the same level of frustration as you guys do. There is no good fix and all the "fixes" will lead to the game death before it time.

Like Super pointed out there is no way to stop quitters. No easy fix.
Von Gamerstein Jul 29, 2014 @ 2:01am
That 25% is all the more reason for punishment as its a more costly loss.

the people who bail regularly arnt in the game for the long run, Its just flavor of the month. We had 2-4g of people before the WF expansion then we jumped to 12g and its dwindling down as people tire. I figure most quitter are in that group, but I may be wrong
