Absolutelly not,all of the units have different stats, and/or new or different abilities.
Japan as a faction would be funny, they would be worse than russia.
There was a Japan vs China mod in CoH1. I had a lot of fun with that.

The far east mod?
I didnt play coh1,but i looked at that mod a while back, they had some nice models and animations.

Hopefully my mod manages to be fun as well without those, since they cant be modified yet.
Update:
Completed the ambush commander building, based on many ambush related abilties requests.

I haven't tried your mod yet. Are you able to create custom commanders with the mod tools in CoH2. I wasn't sure if this was a thing in the dev tools yet.

Also, have you added the SNLF. I'll probably try out the faction later. You should team up with the guy whose making the Chinese faction for this game. I think it would be an interesting combination.

Regarding the commanders,i can,in a way. There are more ways to do it,but what i have gone with is this:Abilties from commanders you have in your loadout dont show up.Instead, when you build commander buildings, you can use them to unlock your commander abilities, just like you would unlock molotovs or anything else.
Active abilities show up in the commander bar just like the "real" ones.

I am reluctant to add the chinese to my mod.Not because of the faction in itself or anything, but because i wanted to give people the possibility to face my Japanese faction with the existing game factions. If i added the chinese i would need to take away someone.
The guy who is making the chinese faction is doing a great job though,he has some really fun ideas in there, and i look foward to see what else he comes up with.
Update:Added which should be the last commander, the secret weapons one.Based on equipement which barely saw battle,if it did,and that some people seem to want, like the ho-ro.
Still no heavy tanks, which is exactly how i intend to keep it.
Updates from now on should be quality of life stuff only, like me finally fixing flamer squads and normal squads being the same selection group,or the icon for all tanks call-ins looking the same.
As per suggestion, added the costs of units to the description in the mod's page,to give a better idea of their gameplay.
Update:
-Set vehicle for ambush actually camouflages now.
-Set vehicle for ambush now works withs all of Japanese vehicles, providing stealth to all,but only hull down to a few.
-Set vehicle for ambush now works on allied Japanese vehicles.
-Careful movement now properly functions on the Ha-Go.
-Flamer squads are now considered combat engineers by the game, and as such, are selected in different groups than the mainline infantry.Their icon is also an engineering one.
-Replaced the redundant, and non-functional anyways, type 4 upgrade from secret weapons doctrine with the Ya-I-Go.
-Removed merge from every unit that had it.
Update:
-Replaced the Ya-I-Go in the engineer corps building with an upgrade that allows civil engineers to build watchtowers, shacks and bridges.
-Forward observers and seaborne troops should be able to properly stealth(either via ambush tactics doctrine,or the forward observer's ability) now.
-Reworked the look of the Japanese soldier.

Yup,thats right, buildable bridges. Its still in the works,as the deployment is still wonky, but they work.

Also, people suggested i updated the screenshots, and added one for each unit. So,i started doing that, screenshots for non-doctrinal T0 and T1 units added.
Must admit have been having a lotta fun lately playing the Japanese in MOW AS2, would be kinda fun if they were in COH2 but only in like jungle maps which gave them the advantage over allied forces heavier tanks because they could ambush and their AT guns were good at short range, also give the JA suicide squads that could take out tanks, also banzai charges etc. that would be cool.

That is the kind of gameplay i am going for, more or less.Light tanks with stealth and ramming, kamikazes, banzai charges.
