they have to be still for the commissar to walk up to them and shoot them otherwise he slowly walks around the base angrly
I don't get it, is there an option or something ?
Now if only Soviet troops thought of doing this during WW2 the Soviet army wouldnt be known for excecuting its own men
He screams and shouts reacting to your retreating troops, but he never moves his lazy ass.
Extra challenge. As soon as you find out that order 227 doesnt actually work the campaign becomes even easier.
Also, it looks like they added this game feature about order 227, and how you can call in recruits easily and at no cost but then you can't retreat them or they will be shot.
All of this kinda seems pointless if the commissar doesn't shoot retreating units.
And like Fino said, it makes the game too easy.
Order 227 is feature in the movie Enemy at the Gates, and in the 1st Call Of Duty game ; in this game, when you go back towards the commissar, he actually shoots at you ! Way funnier. Also, it feels more Russian or something, the whole "shooting your own troops" thing.
I'm still playing the game and now Ardennes Assault too. Everything works fine, but the Order 227 feature still doesn't work...
It's just the game kinda makes a big deal about it, announcing "Order 227 is in effect" in a ominous tone, displaying a big fat bar, and - at least in my case- even having the guy himself present and shouting things like "you have betrayed the Rodina !", and then when you actually violate it, when they're supposed to punish you, nothing happens. Talk about an anticlimax.
Also I liked the idea... it's not that I want to kill my own troops, it's just that I thought it would have balanced things a little bit, added a bit of a challenge. You would've had this handy option of calling a squad of soldier for no cost, but then you couldn't use the retreat function for a while. Seems like a fair trade.
waow
That's because the Germans in the last several missions are supposed to be defending, NOT attacking, just like in real life.
