105mm barrage for OKW - you gotta be kidding me...
After some "miracle arty" wiped all of my forces during a match, I decided to purchase the Western fronts expansion... Sure enough, it was the "Free rotation" blue salvage commander's 105mm artillery barrage.

I've never seen a more overpowered ability. It does not require the area to be visible, it has a huge radius, reasonable (180) munitions cost, and it absolutely destroys everything within that radius. The shells keep coming for like 15 seconds.

I don't know how something like that could've passed playtesting. Literally, all I have to do is rush a scout unit to the enemy base, drop this arty on their building cluster and see at least 2 out of 4 buildings destroyed, while the rest are left at about 20% health. If there's any infantry, they are dead before the player can retreat them or get out of range. If I happen to have a tank destroyer nearby, I can pew pew snipe the rest of the buildings for a GG.

I've been playing COH since 2007 or so, and with the exception of V1, there has never been such "insta gib" ability for such low munitions cost... Speaking of Pay 2 Win...

Is that the ability that just rains down death for ages? Seemingly over an entire sector and only on your own troops.

Ive lost a load of games down to an artillery ability that levels everything. You can't even get out.

I'm not sure but some of these abilities is like they where designed so mentally challenged kids would be able too win...

And it´s strengh depends on the amount of your ammo. Many ammo = A-Bomb for US Base!

FINALLY SOMEONE SAID IT!

Indeed, this ability and another one (which i cant remenber now), have to be tweaked to balance the game for good. And these artys definetly doesnt require ANY skill to use (just in case any german player said otherwise). Even more, those 2 abilities cant even be compared to whats like in the artillery from allies.

if u use that barrage at 180 muni it wont do thing but after 600 or more its powerfull but dont let em get that 600+

They nerfed it so that 105 mm shells do as much damage as a grenade to infantry. Wehrmacht Light Artifllery Barrage is much better, quicker and more devastating, cheaper. OKW 105mm requires an excess of 400 munitions and has to be targeted at base only, anywhere else it takes too long to build up and do damage and they just retreat their infantry and tanks and suffer one or two grenade hits at most.

It only cost 180 muni but requires muni storage to be over at least 500 to do the miracle u said.

Would just not allowing artillery to be called into an opponent's base sector be a workable solution? Or would that raise issues of "Oh, I can just station my artillery in my base sector, and the only way to counterattack is to get into it."?

EDIT: If not that, perhaps give the USF some sort of additional unit to count as the base so that one can't just cheese a win out?

The abilitly is not overpowered, it's the player, try not to clump your units up, plus the americans can call in very effective artillery strikes, such as the calling in a preist. Don't complain, fix your skills.

although it is the end game ability, and most likely you won't have a lot of munitions anyway
and to be Frank
it's the only thing that makes the commander worthwhile
the jaegers are not that great (quite good vs basic inf)

Priest isn't good compare to the alternatives. Using off map artillery is a waste of munition IMO. Off map artillery is really easy to dodge. Even if your troops get caught in one hitting the retreat button should prevent squad wipe. Off map artillery is only good for static units. It is a L2P issue if you are having trouble with them.

Milk win was interesting. First time I see it done. It was a desperate move by him because he was beinng dominated from start to the end. It caught Once Over by surprise because well it never been done before. The off map artillery did not win him the game it was the Puma snipes on the buildings.
