Because there's a huge skill rift (it's doesn't even qualify as just a gap anymore) in the community. Doesn't just go for 1vs1.
Basically it feels like there is no middle section anymore. You either have the dedicated players that sticked to the game this far, because they like it no matter what and can deal with it or you got the players that keep doing what they always did, because they never put any thought into their play to begin with.
Just goes to show there is an element of BS in every simplification.
It is correct. It just doesn't work when there are not enough players that fill the skill level that a certain Elo score is meant to represent.
There is no Elo decay. Not to any noticable amount. You just get put on hold whenever you don't play for a while, so you aren't listed in the leaderboards at all. The underlying Elo score stays where it is afaik.
