Performance issues on high end pc
Hi there everyone, I've made several posts lately asking for help, but nobody seems to be having the same problems as me.

What's happening?

I get freezes during the game from time to time, also stuttering, apart from that, the game runs relatively smooth at 60 fps.

I also have this weird issue where when holding down the alt button to rotate the camera, the camera randomly jumps to another point, shifting my view completely without me moving the mouse to do so. I don't have this problem on my other gaming pc. And it's really annoying.

The game settings keep displaying that I'm running 1080x1920 @120hz while, I have the monitor running at 60hz. (The monitor is a 240hz one, but I only use it at 60hz because of preference) Even if I change the setting to 60hz, the game changes it again to 120 for some reason.
Also since the latest update, the menu is capped at 15 fps, which is really weird and annoying.

This is what I already tried;

Using a different keyboard an mouse (related to the camera issue)

Clean reïnstall: manually removed my game files (including the cashes etc.) and reïnstalled the game.

Verified the game files multiple times.

Disabled the battle replays through permissions.

Turned off V-sync in game, and used nvidia controll pannel to turn V-sync on and capped the game at 60fps. (which fixed the menu and it's now running at 60fps)

Unsubscribed all my mods (which are mainly maps)

Verified the steamworks shared common redist. (There doesn't seem to be any Physx folder in there, even after verifying.)

Updated all my drivers to the latest version.

Run the game as admin.

Specs:

Geforce RTX 2080ti

Intel core I9 9900k @3.60Ghz

31.39 GB RAM

I run the game at the highest settings with 100% resolution scale. Which I want to keep, I did not invest in this pc just to lower these settings to potato level.

Thanks in advance.

It's not THAT old, my pc should still be able to handle it fine. Also, has anyone encountered the camera skipping? Like when moving the camera whith your middle mouse button or by holding down alt, the camera would randomly skip into a different position, like I've rotated the camera further but I haven't.

well, 2013 game, and all,

on my pc, 4 years old one at 1080p max settings, I have to avoid seeing victory strikes or the GPU overheats in 4 seconds, black screen, and the hardware error beep. I also have to sometime, remove victory strikes multiple times.

I had similar experience on a previous now would-be 12 years old machine, where DoW 2 would keep happily resetting my settings or ignoring them in the game. My current one has an rx 480, I do have a gtx 1080 spare nearby for 2x perf, same power, but I didnt bother with it yet. Maybe its some winbug.

the game is ancient... and most are waiting to move onto something else now given all the issues it now has

Well, I personally only play against the AI, so I don't think the server is related to the performance issues. By this point (seeing all the other comments) The poor performance is mainly on the developers side, definitely with the latest 64bit update.

But again, am I the only one experiencing the camera skipping? If so, then it has to be something on my end, I've already clean reïnstalled my game after manually deleting every single coh2 related file so it can't be any faulty file or something. And I've changed my keyboard and mouse to no avail...

set low level antialising

In my experience lowering the physics help quite a bit, I do notice my fps drops 1 on very large maps after an 1hr of battle but seems to do it only when the AI in expert spams air support. I check the temps of my video card and it shows they are normal no overheating. The fans don't spin unless the game is very demanding and COH2 its not. Most likely its just poorly optimize as many have pointed out. In your case is this game the only one giving you problems?

I have a pretty high end system, I only get one lag spike in 4v4 around the start of the game. After that it runs fine, I game at 4k.

Game is not optimised well you have to lower your settings.
Ice Robertson Mar 6, 2021 @ 9:21pm
Your system is quite high end, i dunno how optimised the game is for such hardware.

I read when a SSD is dying you can get freezes and stuff until it no longer reads or writes, it maybe a new one but hard drives can die at different times so i dunno.

The frame rate being 120 with v-sync on, Have you installed the inf file for your monitor?

I found with my IPS monitors when i downloaded the inf file i got a better picture than using the default monitor settings in windows, maybe windows doesn't know how to use your monitor properly without it.

The only other thing i can think of about pressing alt and the camera skipping, which might tie into the freezes, maybe a memory problem, have you set the timings/voltage/speed etc correctly?

with regard to your display settings and frame rate i wonder if your pc home page/display settings are different from your game settings and causing a conflict just a thought . also if you have different settings on either nvidea or in game they could be over ruling your other settings. hope this is helpful or food for thought.

The setting are the same both on my desktop and while in game. Somehow the game doesn't recognise it. Thanks anyway.

My ssd is working correctly, or my other games wouldn't be running so well. Tell me more about this inf file tho, never heard of it. In regards to the camera, I've just tested the game on an older gaming rig (GTX 1080ti) and it also has the camera skipping, both when holding the middle mouse button and when using alt. I know it didn't do that before the 64bit patch. However, my new gaming rig had the camera issue long before the patch. So it's definitely a weird one. I'm using a msi predator monitor
