Battlegroup vs mechanized headquarters...?
So after watching some tutorials, many said that building battlegroup (medic+infantry supporting units) headquarters should be built before mechanized (medium-light tanks+repairs). However, most of the time when I try this, while I do get a small initial benefit of armored cars and quickly resupplying my infantry in OKW, I end up getting slaughtered when the opposing faction saves up for mechanical and blows up my cars (or I pull back my light cars and I am stuck with only infantry).

In your opinion, do you think building battlegroup or mechanical would be better first? Why? I am new to the game btw.

You get slaughtered by light vehicles? You have raketenwerfers and panzershrecks and panzerfaust at the start of the light vehicle fase.

just play the game more and watch tournaments from a recent date, like the GCS or ESL one. both are viable depending on your strategy. as OKW you have to control a large part of the map early, so they can not rush you.

Battlegroup if you need a proper indirect fire as the enemy got advantage position and a defensive/team weapons reliant playstyle.
Mech if you want to capitalize an advantage of having a lot of ground control and denying resources to him (luchs) or you want a mobile at as you greatly extended you territory.

Also mech is good against liutenent and tier 1 su

Okay, ty. I have only palyed about 3 full matches by now. However, whether I play as the blob Russians or the limited OKW, whenever I arrive at the front in the beginning of the match, a massive (like 4-5 groups) of infantry with mg's and panzershrecks counters me while I barely have 3 units in the poroduction.

Do they just no build any headquarters and spend only on infantry or something? I always attempt to upgrade my headquarters first. Is this a good idea?

Nope they need an hq up for volks to not suck and shrecks.
Shreck sturmpios are the less cost efficient at infantry both in mp and muni cost.
3 volks and raketen (if needed) and you should already upgrade hq.
Kubel is ok if microed too i always build it as flanking and capping unit that can drop some models without bleeding.
