That's how it's supposed to be. Stressing the importance of combined arms was the goal in many regards. No AT gun can reliably handle vehicles on its own.
Ok., so my problem is how take most adventage from this thing in the field., Recon is a must? so the cannon can await tank presence in front of him?. (Trying to thinking about it).
Recon is definitly a must. Not only would you miss out on almost half the range it has (60 max range vs 35 outer sight radius), but the way the firing cone is shaped means you miss out on even more coverage as it gets wider the further away you go.
Keep the area it covers visible as much as possible and position your AT guns well. That means they should cover an area where enemy vehicles will move around alot or where you anticipate them to move with as little ways left to evade as possible. Use the map features to your advantage.
It's more about controlling space, then actively attacking something. For the most part at least. If you combine the coverage of your AT guns and the radius of your AT snare units, you can restrict enemy vehicle movement a lot.
The other part of using AT guns would be offensively, if you have a position that needs to be broken with enemy vehicles around. Then you try essentially the same, by moving your AT guns up to cover the ground you are trying to take and to restrict enemy vehicle movement/escape routes. But of course you'll have to make sure to sufficiently deal with or secure yourself against threats to your AT guns first.
This thing shoots only once and with enough luck this shot can actually hit and pen the tank
Germany is ♥♥♥♥ cause too nerfed since the begin of CoH2 that's why I don't play this game anymore.
Just like the thing with PTRS sniping someone will propably shout at you for thinking that again. :P
Regular AT gun damage is 160 throughout.
Maybe you meant penetration. The Pak40 has 200, the Zis-3 has 190.
AT guns all factions are 160 except the soviet m42 45mm AT which does less damage
Most of the time you wont get a kill, but it will be enough of a threat to control the battle. That is the benefit you'll have from it for most of the match. Making the moments where you can really get a kill by outplaying the enemy or getting them to misjudge a situation is the icing on the cake.
Which leave two questions:
1) Why would you blindly run into 2 Paks for long enough exposure?
2) Why have both AT guns in the exact same spot leaving the rest wide open?
