If you set it like that, even if opponent can get close enough to benefit from cover, its almost certain that not all of the models will and will be easily killed off.
the icon is misleading, if over half the units are in cover its considered green cover
take for example where this issue is very common: conscripts are behind a tiny sandbag, it displays green, but the mg42 pins them down in one volley
why? because there were 2 units sticking out, even though the theyre behind green cover, those models did not received the cover thus they take the full supression values to the face and apply them to the rest of the squad
also barb wire denies the green cover completely, you need to be in a minimum range to get the cover received acc bonuses, and the spacing between a wire and sandbag is too far
Even though Brits and Osttruppen still get their performance bonus when touching the cover, even though they are not actually using it - broken crap since CoH1.
A unit has to be directly next to the cover (it's dot has to) and it has to face the right direction, unless it's a crater. And the only craters, that provide heavy cover are Soviet demo craters.
This is why there is also that broken crap with everyone building sandbags next to points from their side, so that they can cap no problem and defend the points no problem. I miss the first CoH's capping system.
