if you get both them and grens and play well with the map to not lose models frontally assaulting it can work, just not optimal
MP40s in general are getting a tiny buff, which will make pioneers a bit more useful and Stormtroopers are gonna rape arse.
They'll be 6 men smg for 280.
Same pop. W hurrah. Throw 6x Anti Infantry nades :)
They are useless. Shock troops and rangers destroy them at every range in every situation. for 40 and 50 extra manpower . Axis do not have any very good close range unit.
back in their prime they were pretty meta to run, skip t1 just spam ass grens and you basically rolled over everything because of their uncounterable cqb power they had and could trivially flank even old maxims when they were at their maximum performance
nowadays theres just simply too many things to control them or outperform them
one of the VERY few genuine things in the axis arsenal where it has little point in getting
Assault Gren will cover anyone trying to flank while MG42 can rotate around..
Enemy will keep their distance because of Assault Gren which favors MG42.
Just use sprint to get around mgs, get two squads at the start to close in with sprint without losing more than 1 model against any early game infantry. I've been playing jaeger armor lately and it really hurts not having a unit better then regular grens at the start
