How to counter Strafe/Bombs

I am not sure the doctrine or the attack, it sounds like "Sector Airstrike" but it didnt light up orange like some were saying it does (this was Wehrmacht not OKW, if that matters). A few planes come in, pin my guys then bomb the F-BOMB out of me, so the only thing I can do is retreat or die and start from scratch. You cant just move to the side like rockets or mortars, as you are pinned.

I tried to figure out a counter for a while, got a little over half the map, then, the strafe bombs came.After a few waves, it got to where I couldnt even leave my spawn. His ground forces engaged me from all sides and if I got out of the spawn, past the front lines, the strafe/bombs would send me back to the spawn. I had squads going left and right, and the amount of micro involved to keep both going with his ground troops engaging then watching my pins as he was strafe/bombing was too much to get anything going. Any troops that got out past his ground troops didnt last on their own.

People are saying "Sector Airstrike" is weak, and, I am sure if I tried to use it, it would be crap, but, it was my first time playing against it and I have no clue what to do against it, other than just win the game in 15 minutes before he can build much resources.

You aren't making it very clear, was it Wher who used it?

Either way you can hard retreat (press T) if you get pinned or soft retreat (move your units manually) if you see a red smoke flare or minimap flashing the sector orange. If you see the flare you can soft retreat, if you're already pinned by the first fighter, then hard retreat.

If you see something that looks like a bullseye that means the air units will stay above and rocket/mg strafe any units within that circle. Having an AA unit (AA halftrack, M3 with 4X MG upgrade, centaur, flak HT, ostwind, or enough pintle mounted mgs) will shoot down the planes. The bullseye circle will remain but the planes won't come in (as they've already been shot down).

P.S. It's better to retreat and preserve your units than hold your ground and losing both units and territory (enemy will probably rush after that bombardment anyways). Losing ground is ok as long as you have enough force to counter attack after.

if you get caught in a lingering plane active (strafes will usually signal their appearance with colored smoke, while planes that linger and bomb will appear as a red area of effect indicator on the minimap) and you don't have any AA units, the only course of action is to retreat all your units and wait for it to run out or go around it
these kind of abilities aren't cheap, costing upwards of 100 muni and on a long cd, but if you know your enemy has one of these commanders its good to incorporate an AA unit into your build

Get AA unit. If enemy tend to use Airstrike/Air Recon.
All dedicated AA unit works wonders.
Boom, 250 muni loiter wasted.

They get Veterancy from shooting down planes too.

I dont really know of any such a airstrike call-in that has planes strafing and bombing units in the Wehr roster. Seems like you were hit with atleast 2 different airstrike/artillery call in

yes, this, how do you counter it other than just retreating?

all I can do is retreat, is there a better option? it gets boring after the 10th 15th time...

Bofors is average AA after buff, but Centaur works wonder he will bring down any airplane in half a burst. Put him behind the line to kill infantry infiltrator.

Close the pocket? If that is case he needs to cut off your territorries and everything in those cut off territories will get nuked to ♥♥♥♥. Either recap the cutoff or rush into enemy territory

ah, I didnt think about that, can he only do this in connected areas? (chained to his spawn) I know he didnt have any forward observers, so, maybe is was connected zones. I was just so overwhelmed, I had no clue what was going on.
