Best single-player "realism" mods/tuning & campaign experience?
Hi all!

New to the CoH series here. I got CoH2 hoping for a more tactical & historical squad-based game along the lines of the old Close Combat series - obviously COH2 isn't quite that. Good game, but more a typical RTS in most ways.

But I do see a more realistic strategy game lurking under the hood, with the right modding it could really work.

So first question, what are the best "realism" mods available that favor slower & more strategic/deliberate gameplay? I've just gotten the Wikinger mod but am not sure what other ones are worth checking out.

Second, I'm going to be playing this single-player - what in your opinions offers the best SP experience vs the AI? The Soviet campaign is kind of bad. Ardennes Assault is interesting, but AFAIK you can't enable mods while playing it. Has anyone set up a progression of single-player skirmish maps that depict some overarching campaign? Are there any other ways to have a sort of ad hoc campaign experience while using mods?

Any other thoughts on the single-player and/or realism experience are welcome too. Thanks in advance!

Try Spearhead. No Tuning of campaign experience :)
Try wikinger, usualy more stable and less wippy
also, you can't mod the single player campaign nor the theater of war, only the skirmishes

That, and the other episodes made by that author, are the only singleplayer campaign modders did in coh2,afaik.

Thanks for the replies. Far as a SP "campaign" goes, I was more wondering if anyone had done a linked series of maps played on skirmish. I.e. units wouldn't be pervasive but you'd at least get a sense of progression - one could do the Normandy breakout, or Market Garden, Kursk, etc. I guess this isn't a thing.

Some of the maps from the Ardennes campaign are in the skirmish list along with a few Eastern front maps from the original Soviet campaign.. they could be played in an order but afaik nothing organized.
