I've been wondering, i played alot of skirmishes against AI and completed almost all the campaign missions but I seem to to be stuck at private rank 1, does playing skirmish or campaign or theatre of war increase your rank? If not, should i only play online with people to rank up?

Thats not your rank. Thats your experiance, how many hours, games, you have played in the game. High experiance can mean to others that you know your way around the game. Doesn't mean your good, you can be prestege 3 and only play axis the whole time making you a nub with Allies. To me, it doesn't mean sh1t.

In the past, before the coin system was implemented, you where able to see your experiance points and how much is needed to get the next experiance level. Now you don't get to see that and was replaced with how closer you are to getting coins or another iteam drop, but you are still leveling up.

You should be getting experiance when you play skirmish games but you don't get alot of experiance. You get a decent amount of experiance when compeleting challenges which are linked to steam achivments. You only really get a lot experiance points when you play online. So yes play online but atleast know what you are doing because you will get some backlash from some die hard COH2 players.

So playing skirmishes and missions does increase your experience? But playing online gives you more? I get it now, thank you so much mate.

Yes but it will take you longer, like a lot longer and no problem.

One last thing, is playing against friends or with friends against bots considered online? Will i get the same amount of experience as if I'm playing online?

You get the most xp out of auto match vs players, less with auto match vs CPU, and even less in custom games, and none in story and theatre of war

You need to look at your experience (rank in army) compared to your other achievements to indicate how good you are at it. Beating the AI doesn't mean much. I'm a lol "lieutenant," but I have an achievement only 2% of players have unlocked. I'm in the top 2%, but have a low officer rank that means practically nothing.
