Selecting All Units of the Same Type within a Quick-Select Group?

I'm looking for a way to select all units of a given type within a quick-select group.

For instance, let's say I have an infantry group consisting of riflemen, mortar teams, and an MG team and I wanted to order just the mortar teams in that particular group group to fire smoke on a target and then select only the riflemen in that group and order them to advance. The game lets you select all units of a given type in your entire army, but if I have a second infantry group, then the mortar crews in that group will be selected as well.

I know you can use tab to cycle through units in a group, but I find it a little awkward, especially when under fire.

I'd say it is much better to have multiple quick select groups for that, given that the base buildings are all accessable through the F-keys and you will not field that many units at once in comparison to other strategy titles.

There is something like that but you have to plug in the hotkey combo for it.

Select the units you want You can do this by clicking on a unit then hold ♥♥♥♥, click another unit and it will group it to the unit already selected.

Then with the selected uints you press "CTRL+(number)" and make them into a group. Then just press the number you gave that group and it will select all thoes related to group "1" for example.

I do this a lot. I have MGs as one group, Mortar teams in another and my infanrty in another. Real easy just clicking numbers instead of selecting units and things don't get so chaotic when you can easliy select units with just a click.
