Tomb Raider II & many other games Fullscreen fix ( The Ultimate Collection of patches )

Hello everyone, been a long a$$ time, but after all these years I finally got to complete the tomb raider classics, and after a painful buggy and glitchy journey, I’m here to share all the patches that helped me through my journey on the tomb raider games.
I will still leave my horribly written personal guide down below in case someone needs it, but I would rather prefer you check these new guides for your own sake, also PLEASE leave a nice comment on the guides to show some love to the people who bothered sharing their knowledge, they are the real MVPs.

Tomb Raider 1 Holly Patch (Includes Gold edition):

[This will save you if you like playing the game on window mode, keep in mind the game might crash sometimes, from personal experience: trying to load a level from the menu after messing with settings (ez fix is load a level first and then mess with the settings)]



Tomb Raider 4 and 5:
These games have no problem, but if you are planning on playing the game on window mode, set the resolution to 720p or a multiply of that, otherwise the inventory screen will destroy your eyes.
You can also try the borderless window patch down below if you would like that but I haven’t used that on these games so I can’t tell you the outcome, a lot of people say it works, so take that advice however you like.

it’s a long a$$ guide, but HOLLY SHI does it save you a lot of pain, the game only crashed on me twice!!! compared to the vanilla give, these guys did an excellent job and all of them deserved some good recognition! plz leave some love in the comments even if the guide is like 100 years old, but wow 10/10 that is how you fix a game.

IMPORTANT NOTE ON AOD:
For me, the final cutscene of the game got corrupted and it only played the audio but not the video, THIS CAN REALLY KILL THE SUSPENSE of the entire game, PLZ MAKE SURE WHEN YOU DOWNLOAD THE CUTSCENES every single one works fine, in terms of video and audio. If yours gets corrupted, look them up on YouTube, download them and use a mp4 to mpeg video converted online, there is lots.
I’m telling you this cause my immersion and excitement got faking blasted once I reached the end of the game all excited just to see nothing but an audio file, and had to watch the ending on YouTube, this killing the entire buildup of the finale.

NOTE: "This fix worked for me, I don’t know if it will work for you"

If you are having trouble trying to play Tomb Raider II in Fullscreen, you may want to check out this:
1- Go to your steam library, Right Click in Tomb Raider II, go to properties and SET LAUNCH OPTIONS
2- Type in: -setup
3- Launch Tomb Raider II and you'll see that a window with multiple graphics options will appear
4- Now you want to do this:
ENABLE: Z Buffer, Bilinear Filter & Perspective Correct
Also, be sure the GRAPHICS OUTPUT METHOD it’s on: Hardware 3D Acceleration
and the DYSPLAY TYPE is on Fullscreen, also be sure to put the Fullscreen Mode
in: 1280x720 True Color
DIABLE: Dither & Triple Buffering, also you might Want to go to ADVANCED and disable
every VARIOUS OPTION there and be sure the Texel Adjustment is on Always
adjust
5- Start Tomb Raider II, you will see the game is running well (if it’s not, try other guides, this fix
worked for me but am not sure if it works for everyone else) but you will see that at the
moment of starting the game the size of the game will be small, don’t worry, this can be fixed
by pressing F3 and F4 with these you can adjust the size of the screen, try to make the
screen size a little smaller than the full screen, if you make it all the way to Fullscreen you
won't be able to see your Health Bar, so make it a little smaller than the Fullscreen.

Note: Why should I put the resolution in 1280x720 Color True?
1- Color true have...... well the true colors of the game, the other options of the 1280x720
resolution can make the game brighter and looking horrible because affects the colors
2- 1280x720 are the resolution that keeps the game screen in the center of you monitor
I tried to use 1920x1080 True Color and the game screen appeared in the corner,
am not sure why that happen, but that’s why you should use 1280x720.
What the hell is there a window border on my game?
I don’t know why there is a window border in the game, I have happened to me but you
can get rid of that horrible thing by downloading a patch in the following link:

This works ONLY for: Tomb Raider II, TR: Last Revelation, TR: Chronicles and
TR: The Angel of darkness
It worked for me in all those games, hope for you it is the same situation.

Dude, 4 years later and this post is still very useful. The link you shared had what I needed to fix the fullscreen border issue. The game would not only show a border when running the cutscenes but it was also hiding my health bar in the game. Thank you very much.

I really don't know at this point sorry. Its not recommended but i would try first trying to make the screen even smaller till your health bar reappears, or try to experiment with F1 or F2 and try changing the resolution of the screen.
This goes beyond my knowledge, so i would try and make the screen smaller with f3 or f4 or change the resolution.

Google TR2Main. It fixes a lot of problems the game has, as well as offer optional extras (such as the PSX style life bar, FOV, reduced fog, etc)

This can be an alternative solution, haven tried out myself but seems recently updated and there's a video on youtube as well if you want to check it out for all the people who my solution wasn't the answer.

Just remove the command from the Launch Options and all should be good. :)

Extremely helpful!

I bought TR2 from steam, because when i played this game in ePSXe (HD settings), the game was slower (too much for my PC i guess). I launched the game via steam, and i was disappointed. The video quality was way worse than ePSXe and the cinematics were in a window border.

After searching in google for help, i found this thread. Both of my problems were solved in 2 minutes. I found a way to open the settings menu, which i couldn't find (the "-setup" command), and easily tuned my game up to amazing video quality (way better than ePSXe). Also, the F3-F4 buttons work fine.

And about the cinematics...i joined the link provided by the author, next second i click "download", next second i open the file which contains the downloaded archive, next second i double-click "install", and that's it. Job done! Easiest patch execution.
