How to play in Windowed mode (Tomb Raider 3)

Here is an easy to follow guide on how to play Tomb Raider 3 in Windowed mode. It only requires one simple download.

Download Voodoo2

Download latest version (Not Tested)[dege.freeweb.hu]

It is a zipped folder which contains the program and other needed files.



Firstly, if you want, you can give me an award. :)

Extract the zip file then open it.

Go to MS\x86 and Copy the DLL files to the Tomb Raider 3 folder:

C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\TombRaider (III)

Also do the same with Voodoo.exe, located in the main folder of the download:

Open the Voodoo exe, which should now be in the Tomb Raider 3 folder.
This is the config application.

It may seem overwhelming, but I will guide you through it.


This section is what creates the Config file, which is what the application reads:



To keep everything organised, tell it to make the file in the Tomb Raider 3 folder.


Now you have all necessary files in one place. :)
Feels great, right?

Next, in the tabs, change the settings to:

General Tab
Important:

Windowed ON
Stretched, Keep aspect ratio.









Glide Tab
Important:

3Dfx Watermark and Splashscreen OFF










DirectX Tab
Important:

Application Controlled fullscreen/windowed state
If ON, will have a black border,
if OFF, will be in a window,

Resolution,

Antialiasing x4
Cleans up edges and makes game look cleaner

Open your Steam library, then Right-Click the game,
Click Properties,





Then click Set Launch Options and insert:

-setup

This allows the game to load textures (Unsure why this is the only way).

Done. :)
Now make sure you load the game through steam, and have fun!

I learned all this information today, and only started playing Tomb Raider today.

hello, thank you for this guide, I managed to make it work but I am having a problem now which I hope I could get some help with, so when I play the game, everything is white, all objects on the title menu, then in game absolutely everything is white, all textures, and Lara

also if I tick the 8 bit textures on the setup, the opposite is true, everything is black, but all of the items on the title screen ring menu are gold :(

Sadly this is the only way I know. I documented it here so that others could try it..

I wish there was a simpler way.. Most games just give you the option.

I followed the guide and it was the only thing that got me into windowed mode. unfortunatelly the window was quite small, i coudlnt see the items i was picking up, the window became fullsized whenever I had to jump+climb something (alt+enter duh) and when some levels didnt have graphic i decided to delete voodoo again. so here comes the question: is there another way?? I have tried the start setting (-windowed / sw etc) nothing works.
