For everyone with WHITE SCREEN!

Hi everyone!

For everyone that is complaining about getting a White Screen it's because you are running a ATI X Series < X1300

Age of Empires II: HD needs DirectX 9.0c to in order to run!

Why DirectX 9.0c? Because it was build to use Pixel Shader 3.0 and Vertex Shader 3.0!

Intel GMA 900/950/3000/3100 series (Max DX 9.0 | Pixel Shader 2.0)
nVidia GeForce FX 5000 series (Max DX 9.0a | Pixel Shader 2.0a)
ATI Radeon X700-X850 series (Max DX 9.0b | Pixel Shader 2.0b)

-------- Every Graphic card higher then this should be ok to run the game! ---------

ATI Radeon X1300-X1950, nVidiaGeForce 6 et 7, Intel GMA X3000 series (MAX DX 9.0c | Pixel Shader 3.0)


Fix? Buy a new graphic card, because dev wont problably change it ;)

X1250 is shader 2.0b, not 3.0c compatible.

I Player Age of Empires 3 with ATI x1250. Age of Empires 3 Need directx 9.0c and ist Works well. why Age of Empires 2 Not Work ? The Problem with white Screen have nothing to do with shader 2.0 or shader 3.0

Very helpful, but just to clarify, any ATI Radeon card which is the X1300 or greater can run AoE2? So an X1300 could be purchased to run this game?

As stated in the system requirements, AoE2HD requires a graphics card that supports DirectX 9.0c. The white screen is usually a symptom of an unsupported graphics card. With the 2.3 update, some users with unsupported cards are able to work around this by disabling anti-aliasing in the game's options menu.

Before people get worried, it's maybe good to mention that any ATI Radeon HD XXXX card is compatible with DirectX 9.0c

With the emphasis on HD that is.

also have sometimes white screen freeze after 1 hrs gameplay with geforce gtx 660m
its sad that you play a good game online and than screen turns white and you need force close

Well, AOE2HD is a *new* game, it does use more intensive GPU features.

CS GO is 3 dimensional whereas AoEII HD is made of 2D sprites. Its not that the game is to graphically intensive its that the card is using an outdated version of directx. But there should at least be an option to reduce graphic options so thath it is playable on old cards.

There is an option to remove the graphical feature that makes the game incompatible with DirectX9.0b, I think.

While we can't guarantee it will work, you can try to disable 3D water and Antialiasing to run on a lower-spec'd card.
