GameRanger won't recognize that I have AOE2

For some strange reason, whenever I go to the place that AOE is on my computer when gameranger wants me to show I have it the game isn't there. As in, while the game is saved under "desktop" when I look through my files, when GameRanger asks me to locate it it isn't there. At one point I did find it after I put the game in "my documents", but I got an error message telling me there had been a catastrophic failure when I tried to click it. Could it be that the file name is Age of Empires II: HD edition and not Age of the Empires-the age of the conquerors like it's supposed to be?

i doubt that AOE2 HD is playable on GameRanger, since aoe2hd has no more LAN function.

or do you mean GameRanger no more accept the CD Version of the game ?

GameRanger won't be compatible with this. You are just meant to use Steam with it like normal.

No, my friend used the CD version and he can play, but I can't with Steam on Gameranger

AOE 2 CD Version- multiplayer able on GameRanger
AOE 2 HD Edition- not multiplayer able on GameRanger, Steam only
