hotkeys to jump to a building/unit don't work

Hi guys,

I got some big problems with the hotkeys in AoE II HD edition. I changed them according to my individual settings, which I always used when I played AoE before. Some of them work fine, like the building hotkeys e.g. B+E for houses.

But at least the following ones don't work at all:

- the hotkeys to jump to a building, e.g. H for the town centre
- i somehow can create a group by pressing e.g. strg+1, but i can't jump to the group by pressing 1 afterwards
- the hotkey for idle villagers doesn't work either

Maybe there are some more hotkeys which don't work eiter, but I haven't figured it out yet.

So it seems that the hotkeys which jump to a unit/building don't work.
I really don't have any clue why that's the case. I checked the hotkeys after starting a game and they are all set up as they should be.

Hi El Jamon,

Can you provide a screenshot of your key bindings of the hotkeys you mentioned above? They should all be working as intended.

Do these functions stop working after you change the key bindings from default, or did they not work to begin with? For the latter, you might try verifying your installation files by right-clicking on AoE II: HD in your Steam Library > Properties > Local Files > Verify integrity of game cache...

I'd love to see that screenshot so we can get this figured out!

I verified the installation files and they seem to be alright!

As I'm from Germany, I don't think a screenshot would make sense, would it? It's all in German.

But I figured out some other stuff:
I changed the hotkeys back to default and suddenly they worked alright. But it's weird anyway. For example, the hotkey to jump to the TC is declared to be "8" or "9" in the default settings. But the hotkey which in actual fact gets me to the TC is "h". So something's really wrong.

In fact, for every "jumping action", there are two hotkeys. Is that how it's supposed to be?

That is very strange. Sounds like this could be a localization issue. A screenshot would still be helpful.

Stupid question, but how can i post a screenshot in here? I can do a screenshot and copy it to paint, but can't link it to this post.
I read that pressing F12 during the game would create a screenshot as well. I tried it but it wouldn't work...

The first two lines mean "go to the next idle villager".
That's how the default hotkeys are like. It's very strange because the hotkeys don't work according to what is said in the settings. For example, I get to the next idle villager by pressing "." instead of "3" or "4".
