Zoomed in
1360 x 768 is the resolution I'm using. I was watching some videos on youtube and realized everyone had their screen much more zoomed out but since age II doesn't have zoom function i tryed to change the game's resolution, to my surprise there was no way to change it. Now i'm stuck with the screen very zoomed in, and my resolution isn't even that small, looks like if I had 600x800.

My question is if there is a way to fix this, and zoom it out. it's annoying that i can't do in the HD version what I could do with the old version. Thanks

if your graphic card just support 1360 x 768 than you just can have maximal 1360 x 768
if you can use 1920 x 1080 change it to 1920 x 1080 and AOE 2 HD will also have 1920 x 1080

The game uses whatever resolution your computer is set to. If you need a more zoomed out view, change to a higher resolution.

Thanks for the replies. I can only get to 1360 x 768, no more than that. I understand that AOE 2 HD uses your computer resolution, but it can't be that you need a big screen to zoom out and play properly (yes, it affects gameplay more than what you can believe, specially for me). Is there any other solution? will this be fixed in further patches? because this is a massive problem, and not only I'm having this issue, but several members of the community.

PD: like a way to bypass the max resolution and be able to use 1920x 1080?

I want a solution too. My notebook only supports 1366 x 768!!

please make something for 1366 x 768 users, we are way too limited in vision.

-Sorry, I really don't think they will. =/ I'm not affiliated with Microsoft, so I could be wrong!

google for Virtual machine / Virtual Box and install a OS in it
maybe in this virtual OS you can set a higher resulution.

Yes, you can. Read this post.

VirtualBox won't go higher than 1600x1200 for me.
VMware Workstation is better. I have 1080p in my 1366x768 laptop. =P

This has been a problem since the beginning. I doubt it will ever be fixed. It's entirely possible for it to be fixed but they just won't do it. Third party patches from 10 years ago made AOEII look better in laptop resolutions than the new HD version.

I use to play with a 720p Tv on a desktop computer, the max resolution was 1360x 768, but for some reason I was able to change the resolution, like a fake 1080, (it didn't fit the screen, so I had to shrink it by pulling the borders), there was a rectangular black frame sourrounding the screen everytime I played and I was able to view a lot more. Now I'm playing using a laptop and the max resolution is 1600x900, But in game it looks very zoomed in, this laptop's ressolution is better but for some reason it doesnt has much field of view when I enter the game.

Is there a way to do what I did in the other screen???

or buy a cheap monitor and plug it into the laptop? i got a nice 1600x900 (so 900p not 1080p) 75hz display for 50€, lenovo somethingsomething, if you buy used you may even get lower prices
