Failed to initialize draw system : main.cpp(312)

When I click Play in Steam, the AOE2 Startup Launcher comes up fine. I hit Play there (in the hopes of actually getting to the Main Menu in the game itself, but instead I get the error Failed to initialize draw system : main.cpp(312) when I try to run this on an old Windows 7 machine. It works perfectly through Steam on my Windows 10 machine, but I want it running on my Windows 7 machine (for complicated life-living reasons).

Yes,I have looked already at MANY forum postings about this issue. None have worked.

Yes, I totally uninstalled my video device driver. Tried to run without it. Got a different error. Reinstalled my driver.

Yes, I then deleted the user Profile from the Local Files. Same "draw system" failure.

Yes, I tried reinstalling VC Redist and DirectX. Not sure I did, but not having problems in other games.

Yes, I tried to run directly as Admin, and in Compatibility modes.

Yes, I tried to Uninstall and Reinstalll like 15 times.

Yes, I Updated Windows and Restarted like 10 times.

I have a G33/G31 onboard graphics. No special graphics card. (I suspect the error is here, but haven't a clue what it is.)

Please help! I've spent probably 4 hours on this.

You installed VCRedist and DirectX like this, yes?
"I had the same "Failed to initialize draw system" issue, this is how I fixed it:

I browsed the local files for AOE2, opened the "redist" folder, and ran the DirectX 9 installer.
I still got the same error so I ran all the Microsoft VCRedist installers that were in there as well.
Problem solved.

(You may have to restart after you finish running all the Visual C installers.) "

I FIRST INSTALLED THE JAVA RUNTIME

AFTER THAT I ENTERED THE MICROSOFT WEBSITE AND THEN I DOWNLOADED THE DIRECTX INSTALLER, AFTER THAT I DOWNLOADED THE BOOSTER DRIVER AND UPDATED ALL DRIVERS, THIS PROGRAM IS GOOD BECAUSE IT SHOWS THAT ARE NOT INSTALLED AND THAT NEED TO UPDATE, BELOW THE LINKS OF THEM, AFTER INSTALLING ALL DRIVERS, RESTART THE COMPUTER AND TRY TO OPEN THE GAME. ME WORKED 100%
