YOU MUST HUNT 2 BOARS
I realize there are many new players to the game in HD. As a long time player, if there is one thing that is disappointing after playing RM HD, it is to look at the map after a game is over and see a bunch of unhunted boars in players' bases.

I just wanted to draw attention to how crucial it is to properly hunt TWO BOARS EVERY GAME. This will put you leaps and bounds forward in terms of being able to fight later in the game. In almost all cases, if you don’t find and hunt your two boars, you are doing something wrong!

Here is a good video that covers a strong starting build order and a good boar hunt:

Please, please, please, hunt 2 boar!

I always find timing to be the hardest part.

timing can be tricky with lag. As a general rule i click away just after the luring villager fires the first arrow. Researching loom before luring will greatly increase your vill's chance of survival. But even if the vill dies it is still worth it to try again. 1 boar has enough free food to make 7 vills!

Real men steal their enemy's boar with scout/eagle and hunt 3.

i go for second boar lure when my first has about 160 food left. once you get a bit of a feeling for it, you can adapt whether the boar is far away or close nearby, but 160 food is a good starting point. Your first boar will in most cases still have some meat on it, but its not the end of the world, better to be on the safe side with this ^^

I think he was referring to the basic timing of luring any boar to the TC and killing it (without the boar running back, killing his vil, or killing the boar far from the TC).

We can talk about having a second boar arrive just as the first is finished later :)

The fact is, 2 boar = 700 free food = 14 free villagers. I don’t care how noob a player is, they will never lose 14 villagers to a boar hunt, so ALWAYS LURE AND EAT BOTH BOAR PEOPLE.

It's more complicated than that. There is also villager seconds lost in failed lure attempts, and the fact that until you hit castle age and have multiple TCs there is a hard cap on how many villagers you can have by time X (so losing a villager hits you harder than missing out on 50 food, since you now also lose any further resources that villager could have gathered).

But yes, there is still no excuse for not eating boar and learning how to lure them.

Intentionally omitted :) There are also factors like rot that complicate it. My goal here is to keep it simple and make a clear case of the importance of always hunting 2 boar. HAVING 2 UNHUNTED BOAR IN YOUR BASE AT THE END OF THE GAME IS INEXCUSABLE.

Did you account for decay of food? All animals will rot when killed, and thereby lose food.

hotkey your shepherds to 1 hotkey the luring villager to 3, when luring villager is under towncenter or close, deposit shepards food then attack boar, make sure to deposit

also if u have 6 on sheep and have just killed a sheep now is the optimal time to be heading to your boar and luring as most of the time you will arrive once that sheep is completed

after luring the first boar you need to check the food that is left, send villager to lure around 200-175

you must lure quicker than this if you are mongols

also you will need to force deposit the food since hunters carry a larger capacity of food, if you want to maintain an active non idle TC

What I would love is a calculation table on how fast a Boar is gathered by each number of villagers, from 1 to the maximum number of vills you can put on one boar.

real men dont use laming...
I just want to point out that Saracens should have their boars replaced by camels or really fat goats.

Open map, get piggies ASAP ..else they get stolen in mid/high lvl games, not so much in closed maps like BF.

I usually have my scout on #1 so I do sheepers #2
