Trebuchets are overpowered...
Title... what do you think about it? 200+1 attack strength? No way... It should be 50 or 75

The cynical answer: L2P!!!!

The more constructive answer: have some army and attck his Treb, have strong economy to mass a good army size and being able to keep the pressure.

Trebs are not OP if you have just a tiny amount of skill, then they'r easy to counter with either rams, ornagers or just massed units.

Yep, I'm a noob in AoE. But trying to get better and always 30 trebs attack me at the same time. Game over. Very good game..

If you let someone mass 30 trebs then you are leaving it too late to win. You should be applying pressure as early as possible and you should be more or less trying to keep up or ahead of your opponents current age (exceptions might be if you are heavily flushing).

If someone comes at you with trebs counter with your own trebs, hussars are also a good counter as they are cheap and fast so it won't hurt losing a few of them to take out a load of trebs.

If you let 30 trebs attack you, it means you have sitten on your flat butt and done exctaly nothing!! ..this is sub minimum expectation of any player.

I would suggest you go to n00b Heaven (heavengames.com) and read some very basic strats there, how to do dark age ..how to boom etc.

You lack basic knowledge about the game.

30 is an exaggeration right? that is too much even for the attacker :))

Dude if they were weak, it would promote turtling with just spamming castles everywhere.
They are the only option for this kind of situations. They are expensive, hard to achieve and train, slow, killed easily by any melee/siege and harder to manage because of pack/unpack. You just can't say they are OP because of their damage.

@ Rain In AoE 3 when you fight the computor on max difficulty they train about 30-40 artillery units to smoke you out.

trebs were never a problem, don't need to change the game dynamics to suit new players when this game is a legend already,

I just wrote a long raging post about how much I actually agree with this statement but decided to backspace it for the sake of peace. I have no problem with "newbs" and actually enjoying helping them, but I have a large problem with "I cannot use google before spamming incessant threads that are utterly wrong.... and I enjoy making accusations against a game when I don't know what I am talking about...... newbs".

I am normally a happy, and helpful forum dweller, but there comes a time when you have read too many threads about "This unit should be banned", "This Civ is OP", "It is impossible to win against", "This game would be so much better if...."

Please Do Some Research (for the love of God)

So, you have been playing for a while ..so how the heck have you been able to avoid getting just tiiiiinyyyy bit of skill?

It's like a person who only went to 2nd grade in school, then there's something horrible wrong.

It should be quite clear there are a HUGE amounts of tutoarials, guides, etc that will help you easily counter trebs!!!
Boggs Jul 23, 2013 @ 11:49am
Not to mention that trebs were designed with realism in mind. They typically take 3-5 shots to "lock in" the range and angle of their shots. After that they'll hit consecutively, but it takes them a little while to hit right where they're supposed to.
