Shift key doesn't work properly?
The shift key in AOE games is used to queue actions. I just noticed its not working. I queued the scout to move around the map, and it didnt work. I queued different buildings, and instead of completing the first and moving the the next, the workers just travel to the most recent building. I tried to ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ a villager to build a house and then go farm a sheep, didnt work either.

The action flags are being set properly, but the people just arent carrying out the actions. should be an easy fix. This is somewhat of a gamebreaker for me, even more important than the lag or FPS, I don't care about that too much, but im not interested in playing if shiftqueueing doesnt work, its very important to me.

Shift queuing exists in AoE 2. You queue up the actions then right click somewhere. It's really strange compared to modern queuing systems, but it works.
You are confused about the nature of the shift key in AOE2. There is no bug here in the rerelease...

Your final destination point must be a right-click, not shift+right click, otherwise he will never start the route. Try again please.

I queued different buildings, and instead of completing the first and moving the the next, the workers just travel to the most recent building.

You can use shift to place a number of the same type of building at one go. The pros do this all the time on their streams. Otherwise, villagers will complete whatever is nearby and needing completing. And yes, they will do whatever you tell them last. Because they only have room in their heads for one order. (You're overriding previous orders)

I tried to ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ a villager to build a house and then go farm a sheep, didnt work either.

This has never been possible in AOE2.

Then you either need to stop playing or start understanding the way it works in AOE2, which is a 12~14 year old game.

why would it set an action flag on the sheep if it wasnt supposed to be possible? thx for the tip about rightclicking to start the route

That's what you thought you were doing, but in reality the game understood that just as setting a movement waypoint on the sheep.

You can chain buildings and resource farming to an extent, you just have to be a bit tricky about it.

Villagers will move to the closest unfinished building after they finish a building, and after certain type of buildings (mills, lumberjack/mining camps) they recollect the corresponding resource if it is close enough to the building the just finished.

Therefore, you cannot queue a House > Lumberjack then expected the villager to chop wood because they will start with the last building first, creating the lumberjack camp then the house and they becoming idle.

If instead you do the queue like Lumberjack > House they will do the house first, then move to the Lumberjack camp and provided there are trees around the will start chopping them as soon as they finish with the camp.

I hope this helps
congrats on pulling up a 3 year old thread.
How much I wish this could be "fixed"

Now its a 5 year old thread. So there is no way to tell a villager to harvest a resource after building a house for example? You just have to remember to check on them when its done/idle vill button?
