HOW TO: Dual Monitor Play
It's a pretty simple setup that most people simply overlook. There is no 'option' to 'turn on' dual monitors. It's rather simple, really:

Make sure your monitors are set up to extend onto one another, essentially becoming one large screen. This can be done with any number of tools. If you use AMD, you probably already have the program AMD Vision Engine Control Center. From here you can overclock your GPU and assign screen designations.

Go to "AMD Eyefinity Multi-Display" and create a group that has your monitors lined up horizontally.

When you launch the game, you'll notice all the menus do not stretch across the screen. This is normal. It will not become stretched until you start a game. Though I do NOT recommend you using Dual Monitors with AoE2 unless you're very familiar with the way it changes the game. The direct centre of your screen becomes the line between the two monitors. This is a pain when you're trying to locate units (I.E double clicking cntrl grp 1).

Anyways.. the reason why the game doesn't have a resolution option yet is because it detects it automatically. This is what gives you the dual monitor function.

Enjoy!

This.
Even the devs said this.

Yeah sure. As long as you don't mind have a taskbar, which yes you can hide if you know how (on w7), but also a close bar at the top. When you try to full screen it shrinks down to one screen.

My way is a legit way of doing it to avoid these problems.

Nice try though.

Uhm, no. I don't know what strange setup you have but this is how it should be:
I'm on a laptop here (1366x768) and have a second monitor (1280x768) via VGA connected. I set up the second monitor to extend the primary laptop display with the windows settings, start AoE2HD in fullscreen and hit two times Shift+Alt+Enter. The first time it will change to windowed mode and the second time it switches back to fullscreen but extended over both screens. Here is a screenshot of the output (taken with good old PrtScr key):

I use a nvidia graphics card btw.

You still have to be in screen share mode, as described in my OP. I just tried it and it shows half the screen on my left monitor but nothing on my right.

The Shift + Alt + Enter twice worked for me. Thank you for the brilliant solution!

Using an even number of displays for multi-display gaming.

You're doing it wrong.

Right click task bar, properties, auto-hide the taskbar which is on the first tab it gives you. Its pretty easy to find even accidentally...

The proper bind is alt + enter. It changes the game from full screen to borderless window. Just press it again to change it.
