What are the counters for Castle Age massed Conquisidors?
doesn't count as a counter if it's not cost efficient.

Pikemen will work only if your opponent is careless enough to allow you to let them get near him.

Skirms are a safer bet, I'd say.

If playing as Mayans, consider Plumed Archers - they're arguably the only stronger unit in Castle Age than Conquistadors. Mix them with rams and you should be fine.

I'd add Scorpions (if massed) to this as well.

mangonels counter conqs? It only takes 4 conqs to insta destroy a mangonel in 1 volley

Archers do the work, as they are cheaper, massed easily from 2 ranges or more and have better range. Mangonel are too slow and Conq can dodge their shots easily, so they aren't really an efficient counter.

Monks work fairly well and are quite cost-effective. Note that a conquistador is rather inaccurate and has only 6 range. After the opponent got a large number of conquistadors, you can switch to skirmishers/knights with rams

That is true in itself, but if you put some mangonels in the mass of skirmishers, it usually helps.

The dude said massed, means not a few, there monks lose their efficiency, monks usually only works well against few units, else u either have to have loads of monks or godly micro skillz.

AI seems to have that. Their 15 monks can simutaniously try to convert your 15 paladins all while their archers are doing hit-and-run on your champions

I have a hard enough time trying to beat the ai on moderate difficulty :L .

Your real solution isn't the combo of units, but your economy that is too weak, you need more villagers, either attack the enemy early, or boom making a super economy.

You MUST study the "BO" build order of Dark Age economy, there are excellent tutoring out there. It's no different that baking a bread, you must put things together in the right order, and right amount of this and that, accuracy and timing!

Wouldn't paladins be cost-effective against them too, unless they're in such a tight space that you can't get in and attack?

In castle age, the most effective counter to conqs is camels + husbandry (for movement speed). Monks are useful if you are taken by surprise and need a quick defense, but a good player will be able to pick them off fairly easily if you don't have many. Monks also require focus and a lot of micromanagement, since you need to target the enemy conqs every time you want them to convert. Camels, on the other hand, will chase the conqs, requiring almost no micromanagement on your part (but a lot on your opponent's if he wants to avoid a direct engagement). Furthermore, if the camels have husbandry, the conqs will not be able to hit-and-run effectively.

Note: conqs do very high damage, even to camels. If you're facing massed conqs you'll need an approximately equal number of camels to counter it, and make sure not to send them in one by one!
