Genghis Khan 3: Into China (Help?)
Hello I'm wondering if any of you have any tips for this campaign level. The building of a wonder totally threw me off and made me realise that I managed my resources wrong. I lost and even though I had saved halfway through, a couple of attempts later from that save using different approaches further proved to be futile. So I'll have to start over.

Do any other Chinese factions in this campaign level build wonders later on too?

I've noticed that the faction that builds the wonder heavily uses Chu Ko Nus and cavaliers, so I'm thinking of an offensive with pikeman and skirmishers back by a couple of trebuchets and petards as a last resort rush. Am I on the right track with this method or should I just use a petard rush?

Much appreciated.

i understand correct, one of the other players in that campaign 3 builds a wonder and win after 200 years ?

I don't really like ruining the campaigns for everyone, in that level there is only one Wonder built (at least, on standard difficulty).

I managed to do it by shipping Petards across the river, bit of a cheesy tactic but it works, all you need to do is destroy their Wonder and then you can concentrate on everything else.

Yes the Jin Dynasty starts building one like ~10-15 mins in.

Oh spoiling the campaign for me is totally fine. I played AOE II a lot when I was a kid. Back then I beat the campaigns numerous times, albeit by using cheats (mostly after the introductory William Wallace story). So this time around I'm trying to finish them all honestly.

Thanks for the advice. I'll admit I got a bit narrow-minded last night with frustration and didn't do a simple google search before posting this thread, found a recent discussion about this as a first search result:

In case anyone else is stuck on this level there is walkthrough video.

Yeah I recently played this campaign, and had to start over because I was focused on the mainland, and was totally out of position when the wonder went up. 2nd time thru I did a semi-fast Imperial, got cannon galleys for the towers on the coast, and transported to where the wonder goes and attacked thru there. It's easy after that.

Interesting. I tried to get a naval presence going that game but it got destroyed pretty quickly. I was most likely too late in terms of upgrades (was like my war galleys vs. galleons with +1 to missile protection).
This mission is really difficult because you need to cover a lot of ground and you don't have a lot of time to work thanks to the stupid wonder. The last time I attempted it with pikemen guarding trebuchets on the far south edge of the map (along the enemy wall), the AI's knights wiped me out anyway.

than your pikeman did something wrong.

you can swarm manguidas with lots of rams. People ususaly do this in Black Forest when the enemy are turteling the game with stakcs of walls... but that maybe wont work cause in missions you got only 75 pop

You should concentrate on the mainland first, then when you built at least two castles, have enough resources, especially stone, and have an army of some mangudais, go to the east with about five villagers, there where you met the engineers, then build a castle near the gate. Create a trebuchet to destroy the towers ahead the Great Wall on the other coast side, create a dock and many bombards from the castle, also some mangudais and pikemen. Build enough ships to save your transport ships from attacks (if fully upgraded then some fire ships and galeons), go to the south, ship your units on the area with the two docks, send your bombards to the wonder while defending them from enemy's units. The rest is pretty easy; you don't even need to defeat the nation which started the wonder. Go to the most eastern side of the map, demolate the towers and walls, then move forward to catch the cannons, defeat the other players.

The captured chinese village you start with can be very easily defended with a tower or two near the crossings. When you reach castle age, send some villagers back across the river to the west and build some more economy there. Focus on getting to the imperial age, and gather some stone for a castle or two. When you're imperial, sneak a couple transports to the east and build castles, for lots of trebs and trash. I'm not completely sure, as I beat this missions years ago, but I think you could attack the wonder with your trebs from outside Jin's walls. After Jin's town is destroyed, the mission is a cakewalk, as no other chinese faction is as strong.

There's also a secret stash of bombard cannons (gaia) located on the map, somewhere behind the great wall.

Make an initial landing of troops on the island of the wonder guy, then send some villagers over to make some barracks, seige, stables etc so you can keep training troops without ferrying them across the river. You could probably kill your transport ships aswell to save on population.
