Mayans have a mounted unit now! (Berbers genitour)
Yup I was curious so I tried this out in the map editor and it worked.

Oh dear, as if their UU wasn't cancerous enough now they can supplement it with a similar unit that costs no gold.
Sids Nov 9, 2015 @ 3:48pm
Well they always had trade carts...

Yes but their trade carts were just a guy running with a cart behind him. No horses.

Sounds annoying lol. Just that this unit can absorb arrows better.

Wait... What... Wow, you're right. How have I missed that all this time? Guess my lack of meso use is showing.

I really like the genitour. Super trash unit that can be spawned by the whole team. Also since the Berbers lack some archer upgrades, they can mix in some other teams to really take advantage of the team bonus. And they can be great friends to the turks. And with mesos lacking a fast ranged unit, it helps them with raiding (though eagles were quite good at that already).

Yes but now they have an option almost like using the cavalry archer at doing hit and runs. Though the mayans already have the plumed archer.

Should mix up team games pretty well though. Make for some interesting combos. If it helps, neither the genitour nor the camel archer get parthian tactics, so their piercing armour isn't quite as high as it could have been.
thesupermarv13 Nov 9, 2015 @ 5:41pm
Yeah but I have heard the camel archers fire faster than regular cavalry archers.
Sids Nov 9, 2015 @ 7:19pm
Well sort of. Did a quick test in the editor with camel, Ecamel, cavalry and Hcavalry. regular cavalry is a bit slower - about 3-5%. But if theres a difference between the camels and heavy cavalry, then its too small for me to see.
Devang Nov 9, 2015 @ 7:28pm
They have the same base firing rate. Camel Archers fire faster after Thumb Ring. 15% vs. 10%
thesupermarv13 Nov 9, 2015 @ 8:32pm
I think that's why he told me they fired faster. Well I'm not sure since I have not seen the new units in action other than the genitour to see if the mayans got them.

They can even be made in a normal game, for all civillization available ;( is there any way to fix it?
Sids Nov 23, 2015 @ 7:50pm
Fix what? They're supposed to be available to everyone on the team.
