4.4 "FIX": Reverting Patch from 4.4 - 4.3

OK it's not totally a "fix" since it will not allow you to play the new expansion pack. HOWEVER, if will let you play with your friends and play the old campaigns. Till they can hotfix their hotfix and get the game in working order again.

How to revert patch...

Open Steam
Library
Find "AoE2 HD"
Right Click
"Properties" (down at the bottom of the list)
Look for tab that says "BETA" and then open that tab (2nd tab to the far right)
Wait for it to load all versions (this may take a moment)
Use the drop down menu to highlight "patch43 - Patch 4.3"
Left Click to select "patch43 - Patch 4.3"
"Close"

This will start a 248(ish) MB download that will REVERT your AoE2 HD back to the last fully working patch (4.3) before the release of TAK. Yes you can't play TAK but you can still play with anyone that has 4.3 and play the old campaigns and standard game. Which is better than no AoE2 at all.

I also reinstalled my whole game client for good measure before doing this. If you have problems after reverting to 4.3, I would go ahead and do a total "remove local content" and reinstall the game (I know a real pain).

And YES you can play multiplayer but your friends MUST have 4.3 installed not 4.4.

This works I promise, me and my husband tested it last night and played for over 2 hours like this with no crash, or lag.

No, since your going back a full patch before TAK came out. You can only play AoE2, TC, and TF.

Well the game was not played on any of the expansions, it was the default 'content pack'. Could we play it in that case?

To clarify: I want to restore a 4.4 savegame, can't restore at all on the current version.

To be honest I never saw your post. But I figure the more people post it up the more likely someone is to find it. If I had saw it I never would have posted this.
