They had a lasting impact on the areas they colonized, and became an empire in the regions in their own right.
Yes it's absurd. I never heard of such terminology used in history.
Correction, Spanish were not included in Forgotten Empires but in Conquerors Expansion.
Its still about the African Kingdoms and African history in general.
I'm glad they didnt think that way or change the expansion name just for the few OCD kids among us who spazz out over such small things.
There is difference between the terms "African Kingdoms" and "African History".
Portugal has never been called an African Kingdom. Just like the British Empire had never been called Asian Kingdom or Indian Empire even when the vast majority of British subjects were Indian.
Such terminology does not exist.
Thanks for the catch Al Chemist. Fixed my post.
Exact , Portuguese colonialism of the African coast was the first ever and it started in the XV-XVI century , with the opening of the route to India by Vasco da Gama , made by passing the Cape of Good Hope , the colonization of the African coast allowed the Portuguese to create ports where ships could stop over during long journeys to the Far East. This allowed the start of a spice trade with India and the nations most important facing the Oceans ( Mali , Ethiopian , Bantu and Somalian empire ) .
However do not forget that AoE2 covers a period of history that reaches the early Renaissance , the second half of XVI century included . So why argue about something as frivolous , the Portuguese were the Civ. more demand by community and now no longer good for a subtlety !
I think the important thing is to play and have fun with this new DLC !!!
guys just play the game.
