Also how does the bracket work? Is it 1v1 or team games?
Edit: I would love for competitive aoe2 to be a bigger thing. The competetive scene would only benefit from notty managing a competition. Its just making an event would be difficult due to the aoe2 community being divided between hd and the original aoc.
As for myself I am not an extremely skilled player and don't have a lot of spare time due to work and school.
Also, Im not entirely sure, but I'd say this would not be the first time HD is used in aoe2 tournament; there are noob tournaments on Voobly that likely have players who have transferred there from Steam, with the patch.
The latency, pathfinding, performance issues, desyncs, cashes, bugs, poorly made specating feature, and the fact that you can't even restore a game makes aoe2 HD terrible for competitive tournaments.
By the way, how did you manage to post a thread in the 'News and announcements' forum?
I think you've missed the past ~10 tournaments that have been on HD, or the hundreds on voobly...
I for one never heard of Voobly until I watched some twitch aoc streamers (ZeroEmpires at first), having only purchased HD and never owning the original.
This site here has all info on AoE2 tournaments one ever will need (this is the HD tournaments page as an example): http://aoczone.net/viewforum.php?f=692
