It seems the newest patch fixed the preset teams bug on scenarios, I'll do some tests first and if it goes well, we can probably then play any map and not only against AI ones.

I'll also look onto why the AI attacks the players on maps like Tower Defence and such, when it's supposed to just walk towards the designated area.

Open Beta required to join my lobby to prevent desyncs.
If the game is against a fixed color AI, then we can play the map.
If the game is against a fixed color player, then we can play the map.
The rest is impossible because of a known bug in Open Beta.

Hey there guys,
I've noticed that AoE2 is a bit weak in the multiplayer, perhaps because people are always playing the same maps, over and over.

I want to make something different, I want to bring back the feelings that personally made me love AoE2 online, I'll start hosting lobbies of some old scenarios, back to when it was in MSN.

Scenarios that are fun, unranked, and perphaps, easy to master!

Here's a list of maps that come to my mind:
- Warriors Defense
- Starship Troopers
- Wall Builders
- Total Defense
- Hitman Jailbreak
- Hitman (IGZ version)
- Teams TD
- Rambit TD
- Brasil TD
- Rambit CB (IGZ auto)
- PTO (Protect The One) - I have a lot of these
- UDP (U Da Prey)
- Archers Advance
- Hero Fest
- King of Towers/flags
- LOTR Helm's Deep
- RPG maps

Please bare in mind that some of the maps I have could crash mid-game, in that case I'll rehost another of version, if I have it, or host another map. This can happen for various reasons.

So how do you know when I'm hosting?
If I'm online and playing AoE2, I'm most likely hosting them, you can post here or you can add me on steam!

If you don't know a certain map, no worries, it's unranked and for fun, just join in and play with the others! (also I'm pretty sure that me and the old guys can explain you the scenario)

If you want me to host a map that happens to not be on that list just ask me since those were just an example, I probably either have it or know where I can get it and if we have enough players interested, I'll host it.

However I would like to tell you guys that I've been hosting some maps, especially Rambit TD, and we were able to play without desync problems on some versions, however, after some minutes of playing, the AI gets stuck for no reason.

On some maps, I have a lot of versions to test, but sometimes people get tired and leave or we don't get a full lobby, of at least 4 players, so I ask a bit of patient so I can figure out which map versions works on Steam and which doesn't.


I'll be hosting Wall Builders in a hour.

Hoes does it even work? Where do you host scenario maps and does everyone need the maps downloaded from Steam Workshop?

Hey, I'm not quite sure yet what makes somes version work and some to crash or be buggy.
I host the scenarios ingame creating a lobby with the name of the map that I'm hosting in that moment.
You don't need anything from Steam Workshop, as soon as you join my lobby the game will download the map by itself.

I wish they were! But has I said on the first post, they are from when AoE2 was on MSN. (most of them)

Honestly I'm not getting many players ingame to test them with me, but I was able to play so far: Rambit TD (the AI got stuck mid game), Warriors Defence (the AI got stuck mid game), Wall Builders (we finished the map with no problems).

Alright guys, I'm gonna add my insights of what's going on with the crashes on the scenarios.

It seems that everytime, there's more than 2 AIs in the game, AoE2 will desync or simply crash. I have no idea why. (changing to Original AI does nothing)

Everytime I try to host a map the requires the AI enemy to simply walk towards a place but not attacking anything (such as Rambit TD or any Tower Defense map or some of these type) the AI will ignore the triggers to walk and will start attacking the towers or even the villagers.

No matter which version of Rambit TD I host nor the settings of the AI, they will always attack the Towers/Villagers instead of moving towards the middle of the map as it's supposed to and there's nothing I can do to stop it.

It seems that the steam AI are not compatible with the maps from Voobly/IGZ/MSN.

For now I'm going to give this info to the development team to see if they can help us with this and I'm going to host player-only based maps. (such as PTO, Wall Builders, Hitman, Blood maps, UDP, and so on)
