Bug in the Barbarossa Campaign level 5: Barbarossa's March.
Everything online is saying that when you force Constantinople to surrender they relenquish their navy to you. This is not happening. I was incredibly frustrated when they only gave me a few transport ships which were subsequently destroyed by the Saracen's Navy.... while the constantinople navy just sat there watching. Has anyone encountered this or know of a fix for it?

As of now it makes the mission pretty unplayable, as my transport ships get immediately overwhelmed by fireships and galleons...

Not this is not suppose to happen. A new bug probably. Did you tried to play it again to see if the problem remains?

Yes, I have started the campaign over a few times. I recently added the two DLC's into the mix, but the problem existed before and after their installation. When constantinople surrenders they only give me 6 transport ships, which makes it pretty impossible to complete.

I looked around and cannot find console commands for the game to fix it myself. Is this the case?

Very strange. I played the map before the new DLC and it hasn't any problem. The fire ships and the galleons remain blue?

Correct, the byzantine navy remains blue and just casually watches as my transport ships get destroyed.

Go to Gallipoli. All saracen ships go to scout mode as soon as you claim those transports and just harmlessly sail past you(at least usually).

Still broken.

EDIT: The reason this bug persists is because the ships are designated to the player as long as they sit within that bay when you march into the city. Problem is nowadays for some reason the scrips in this game get ignored by units whenever some changes occur, like when Byzantine changes from Ally to Enemy. At that moment the ships start moving towards your units if they're within range, and walking through the city usually puts them in range as they pass the coast at any point.

Similarily as soon as this objective is complete every single Saracen on the map on this side of the water suddenly ignores their orders to sit waiting for the player to come along and they immediately beeline to Byzantium, which makes this even harder. It is an utterly broken mess now.

So I have now finished the fifth level and I'd be more than happy to let everyone else know (who still cares) how to finish this level with flying colors.

First of all, keep your distance from the shorelines. Once you reach Byzantium, just snip off the gates and nearby towers with the trebuchets and then send a single scout inside to finish the objective of placing troops next to the wonder (absolutely do not go near the shore, just scoot between buildings to be sure, and do not attack anything). Once you do this the Saracens on that continent will start coming from the west so be prepared for that. As long as you do not go close to the shorelines or the bay where the Byzantine ships are moored, you will get the whole lot and now have something to fight with.

Incidentally it also seems this helps against the Saracen navy acting overtly aggressive towards you. The few ships shouldn't be too much of a hassle. Just sail southeast from there and use siege onagers (you get some from the easternmost corner if you lost yours) to cut down a path through the treelines along the southeast cliffs.

It's a shame that the ships seem to now completely disregard the script instructions and ruin this scenario but at least it's not unbeatable.

Have fun.
