Wishing aoe2 had a peaceful mode
Because I am disappointed with HD edition.

Ability to farm animals so you won't suddenly run out
Animals that can be tasked to work a farm, like a pair of oxen on a field
Seasonal cycle for farming - growing season then harvest season
Migrating herds of deer
Angry wild animals like boars attacking farms
Buildable fences
Naturally spawning animals (like a minecraft map?)
Heavy Plows that actually affect terrain. In north Europe terrain was rocky, so heavy plow was invented to make farming easier.
Affecting terrain in general. Be nice to turn a block of grass into a water hole :)
Building Bridges, Roads and making pretty gardens and other eye candy
Improved Random Map generation, allowing for vastly different and improved landscaping.
In realtime, multiplayer Editor where two or more people can work in the scenario editor together

I wish aoe had streets so you could make car races.

no but seriously you are in the complete wrong genre. If you want a Farm game go and buy Stardew Valley.

Sounds like you want an Impressions or Tilted Mill game such as the Caesar series, Pharoah, etc.

Totally wrong game.

When I read this, I thought it was made by another username for our plague-like troller named (currently) Baharis. 11

Thats exactly what I thought too!

You could try looking for peaceful scenerios or create some yourself to allow you to do stuff you want. This is really not the ideal game to build peaceful empires and cities though.

Maybe something more along the lines of Banished?

Never heard of him, but this isn't a troll post, even if I don't play much anymore. In any case the post is just a wish list for what I want to really improve aoe2 :)

I remember that. It is pretty cool :P http://www.forgottenempires.net/wp-content/uploads/2012/05/He-thought-of-cars.png

On a serious note I totally am in the right genre, and in the right game. Aoe2 boasts about letting you build an empire, and that includes a lot of other stuff. This is how some people already play aoe2, just making pretty cities, nice walls, cool armies and sometimes landscapes. This is a big part of single player, but only minor in multiplayer, I just want that to get expanded on.

(Also shadow valley looks way too cartoony for me. Even aoe2 looks 100x better.)

Huh. I'll take a look at that. I like the name, so that's a start.

Indeed. Try SimCity.
I've never played sim city, have heard of it but mostly when people say they're playing sim city in aoe2 matches. how is it different from just building an epic or cool town in aoe2?

@OP: Yeah dont take my post as offensive, Im just amuzed to the extent of disbelief that someone plays this game like you apparently do, and ofc I dont condemn it. This troller fellow I mentioned, Baharis, simply spews equally confusing content (complete nonsense spamming) which I personally dont understand as much as I dont understand this, so it has a sense of comedy to me.

Not sure what "extent of disbelief" even means but I can see where u r coming from haha

I don't see nonsense in my post. Maybe it seems weird because this is real life stuff makes game feel more alive, but I just wanted to really say what I want :)

The cooperative editor thingy would be extremely cool, it would however require rewriting a large portion of the code from scratch and there would probably be a big trouble with mods.

Seriously, a lot of things you want are already possible in the scenario editor - you can place roads, buildings, fences and anything as you like. Migrating herds of deer, wild animals attacking, animals tasked on farms, spawning animals and respawning resources in general are doable with triggers. You can design any map you want and even terrain modification is partially doable (you can create water and sand during play, so floods/droughts/tides are possible). It is even possible to make most of these player-controlled, although usually through mechanics that bend the basic game design.

To finish the impression, you can design the AI which would behave as another ruler(s), so that you can interact with them diplomatically. If you use 500 pop limit and LudaKRIS map size, you could get tens of hours of gameplay :)

There aren't many scenarios that focus on this city/empire-building style of play in such a detailed way as I described (I don't know of any), but perhaps you could find something to your liking here.[aok.heavengames.com]

I kind of understand your unwillingness to switch to classical city-builder games, as they lack the one thing Age of Empires II has over them: the ability to control single units.

amuzed to the extent of disbelief = a fancy expression meaning I am greatly amuzed.
Your content is not nonsense, what I meant is that the semi-famous troller known as Baharis is the one whose content is utter nonsense.
