ping
query (another computer on a network) to determine whether there is a connection to it.

In AoE2, the ping you see in the multiplayer lobby is how long it takes for the signal to arrive from your computer to that from another player, expressed in milliseconds. So if you have a ping of 100 towards player 2, it takes 100ms before any package of information arrives at his PC. The reason it changes can be caused by many things, like network traffic, signal strength (if on wireless),...

The lower the ping the better.

The three times I tried to host a game I didn't have the ping indicator but all others had it. And they all lought at me.

Could it be because of my connection wich I don't have a clue how to do It or was it because ''I'm'' a real noob??

Any way, my question is: How do Iconfig anything to be able to host a game?

Ping is measured between you and others, you don't have a ping to yourself :P You were in the right place to host a room, just gotta get some people and get it going.

Actually, we have pings to ourselves, but AoE II doesn't bother testing and showing it.

Mac-Pro:~ AlecZ$ ping localhost
PING localhost (127.0.0.1): 56 data bytes
64 bytes from 127.0.0.1: icmp_seq=0 ttl=64 time=0.100 ms
64 bytes from 127.0.0.1: icmp_seq=1 ttl=64 time=0.096 ms
64 bytes from 127.0.0.1: icmp_seq=2 ttl=64 time=0.111 ms

you just host a lobby, get people to join it, everyone click ready, then start.
