Average Internet Traffic?

Played a few matches with a friend against bots where I was the host.
Later on in the day I decided to check my Internet Subscription and apparently approx 10 gb was downloaded.

Everyone here denies downloading anything at all :)
It is crucial because there are hard caps on download capacity even when you have an "unlimited" sub. Fair use policy... lol.

So this leaves me with the following questions:
- How much traffic happens during an average match?
- Does it matter if you are the host? (probably does - but how much of a difference)
- Bots matter? / Who causes the most traffic: Players or Bots.

Unless there's a post about this somewhere (which I couldn't find), I think it would be interesting to know in order to choose the right host :).

There is no way AoE II: HD is using that kind of bandwidth. On average, a match might use 2 kB/s. You might want to have your task manager open with network usage statistics being displayed to figure out why your network usage is so high.

AoE2 is incredibly light on network traffic. A recorded game, which usually stores all commands that are sent around, is typically only a few MB large.

It's because it all happened during the time I was playing AoE that I wondered. Guess someone has been downloading after all.

Well you seem to have a lot of games, so I would suggest making sure they aren't all updating, especially if you don't play them any more.

I remember when I was playing tf2 and some other games sometimes there would be up to 2 gb updates every couple of weeks between all the games

I already took care of that. I removed most games I dont play or made them update after midnight (when traffic only counts for a fifth - night rates)
